Went from compliance to M&A. Networking, was relatively easy

Assuming you’re not a JD (which can sell yourself well to strictly consulting roles) networking is huge. Find the groups that don’t do compliance in your practice, reach out to them, and make a pivot.

Hi everyone,

I have got the ey hr mail stating i should provide him with aadhar card, information sheet and latest resume for a audit and assurance contract for 6 months as iam a semi qualified CA.

Here my question is should i take this opportunity. Cause since this is only for 6 months. After that, what i can do, where should I try to get the job?

In mid size firms, people won't pay as much as big 4 pays.

Should I take it or am I making a mistake by taking this.

For those managers and senior managers who are directly working with new staff and interns - how are you maintaining the quality? I am at a breaking point now as I have no seniors on 3 of my clients. How am I supposed to concentrate on complex allocations if I have to do all the updates on basic M-1s. All the experienced S2 and S3s I trained got pulled into other engagements as acting managers. Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?

Compliance question here, I have always thought of the SALT deduction on the fed return as a perm item & have treated as such in such sch M-3. I see that some people put it as a temp on sch M-3. What is the justification for treating it as a temp on the M-3. You don’t set up a deferred on the def RF for the state tax deduct & it is also a rate impacting item (I know that some temps can be rate impacting). But this all leaves me to side with perm. Does anyone know the logic behind temp treatment?
