Back in my day, before AI, the intern did it
Clio Work generates an effective table summary/comparison of voluminous documents. One reason it’s effective is that it links to its sources for easier verification. Mainly beneficial if your case environment is already in Clio, though—it’s not like an ad hoc extra subscription model
Harvey does a great job getting a basic table review setup with associated links to the documents themselves and to any web sources it relied on. But, again, it still requires cleanup and review just like the rest of them - not perfect.
A human. I've always done med chrons. One firm tied to use AI, and it was complete trash. When I do them, I'm also closely looking for new pharmacies, new doctors, what prescriptions are they taking/adding, new conditions, or mentions of past injuries/new injuries. I dont know if AI is there yet. I guess if you aren't looking for anything detailed and just a high-level brief overview. AI would be ok.
Not trying at all to knock the use of a real live human - but I incorporate most of these questions (pharmacy change, new doctors, new injuries, etc) into my prompts. Again, absolutely not perfect and requires double checking but most times it speeds things along.
I didn't really care for the West or Lexis products. Both just seemed very basic and required a lot of cleanup and editing. Tavern seems better IMO, but with Tavern your output is supposedly in 1-2 hours rather than instantly as was the case with West and Lexis. I would guess there is somehow human input to explain the time difference. Tavern also employs a pretty hard sell and won't give you two weeks of unlimited test use like the others. None of them can do it as well as a skilled human. You'll know you're reading robo speak when reviewing AI output.
