Have you tried reaching out about student loan forgiveness? It's a hard debt to conquer, but communicating with them your desire to have a portion forgiven will go a long way. They're able to work with you somewhat.
Unfortunately yes but we don’t qualify for any forgiveness
What about double payments? She already has it built into her budget can you match her payments to help pay them off faster?
This is a great idea... will look into it.

I mean- you pay them together before or when you are married. You will be a household with a joint income.
My brother essentially paid off his wife’s law school loans bc his job was more stable and paid more than hers after law school (they met in law school).
Conversely, I had all the student loans but a much better income than my husband bc of my MBA. Although our finances are joint, I essentially really pay for my loans bc I make more. But we both pay for everything “together” out of a joint account.
Why would you not want your partner to be debt free if you have the means and you are getting married?
Don’t mean to assume, but if I’m correct, no reason not to tackle them together to achieve your other, joint financial goals.
Loans are a crutch.
Trust me- it’s been 17 years and no one has ever helped me. I’m paying them off this year finally.
Do a prenup agreement.
Prenup agreements can help separate financial agreements.
Also if you have a dual income, you can pay it off quickly most likely if you both have been good about finances and have good sources as of income.
Did you miss the part where I said I see this as mine too? I don't see it as separate, we're a partnership
Hopefully it is 1 loan and not multiple loans making up the $50k. If not, then look into consolidating them. If it is 1 loan, make 2 payments per month. For example, if your monthly payment is $300, then make $150 payment 15 days prior to the due date and another $150 before the due date. This decreases the amount of interest you pay on the loan since interest accrues daily on the loan balance. If you plan on going this route, contact your lender first to ensure they allow partial payments. If you are making more than the minimum monthly payment each time you make a payment, then you don’t have to contact them. I’m sure the interest rate is better than what you can refinance it for right now.
Good advice. Thank you.
