What is the best way to pivot to more traditional M&A strategy work (i.e., CDD)? For context: I am currently doing mostly IT DD’s and some ODD’s at a boutique firm.

EYP’s software strategy group might be a good way to get there. They work on product and tech DD and CDD in the software industry, so your IT and ODD background may help

like

LEK or EYP or Bain

like

Move of a shop that’s does CDD. Job market is still hot IMO

like

Have you done any competitive work during your other DDs, that’s a good one to spin into how it could help in the broader CDD space.

KPMGs strat group does both

like

Are you consultant level? If you can get into EYP there’s great rotation opportunities for our consultants and even directors to move between groups. IT DD is hot so could come in that door and try out CDD over time.

Another option is obviously MBA route to then recruit for those roles at MBB, EYP, etc.

I think moving straight to a MBB to do that would be challenging if you don’t have that background.

Should I negotiate job title for an offer that’s been presented to me? Currently a Consultant at a partner firm with an offer to move to industry as a Business Systems Analyst. Thoughts?

I've been in manual testing for 80% of my career. Despite attempts to transfer into a more code-centric role, I never got the opportunity to do so. Now that I'm in a management role, I feel like it's too late to enhance my programming skills.

Suppose I want to transition into a developer role, will self-study be sufficient for passing the necessary requirements for coding jobs? Lately, I've been learning python and using what I learned by solving problems at leetcode.
