Which one to choose between Optum and Tiger Analytics for Data Scientist position? Where can I expect better data science domain expertise (In my previous companies I found very less understanding of Data Science practices as team)? Heared good things about both of these. Also hearing Tiger is expanding rapidly and getting some crap projects as well in the name of data science. Could someone put light on these things?

You are in total control of your career. Don’t live your life worrying what others might think about your resume in the future. Our healthcare creatives in Chicago are the best in the building, kind and collaborative too.
I did the switch and 9 months in not regretting it. I also don’t see 1-2 years getting stuck, but understand that might be a pay cut leaving
Be open to the possibility you may like it and/or not want to go back, too. You're not going to get pigeon holed over 1-2 years in pharma so no need to freak out at the very outset and go into a new gig with a negative attitude or only focusing on what's "wrong". If you don't like it, you'll know within a year or two and then still be able to leave (depending on what else you have in your book anyway). It's not like you've been doing healthcare for 10 years and now you're just out of options and doomed to eternity...
SO GLAD TO BE OUT OF PHARMA. DON'T DO IT!
I love tacos
Once in advertising, always in advertising. Meh. Ignore the hater. Do what feels right and go work with good people. The work will be the same anywhere you go.
That’s because media people only think of how you buy media, not how you use information to persuade consumers (no matter what they’re buying). I’ve moved in and out of pharma because I understand the buying decision and how to place (paid) information to influence that decision. I say with regret most people both in creative and media don’t do this and that’s why agencies are failing.
Nah. I don’t get upset. It’s a wasted emotion. Mmm if I was part of that immigrant family, yes I would think tacos are special. But said fact is we aren’t. So no they aren’t special So yes. U work for the man and sell more tacos for him.
As an immigrant’s son I would be interested in knowing what immigrant can come to this country and built an empire selling authentic food from the motherland. Lord knows my mother cooks for hours making a traditional meal for the family, so she would love to know how it can be done cheap and fast.
Nice. Never heard of them. Will need to check out their story. Thanks!
Always keep non-pharma work going somehow, whether in the agency or on the side. And bring your most non-pharma ideas to the pharma work. Many clients realize their industry is often stuck in a rut and want to break out. There is some good creative work that can be done in pharma but prepare to defend it tooth and nail.
at a pretty decent global agency. What’s the key to, if i want to, ever get out? Create spec work? Freelance? Is that even a real issue?
Grey health NY awful! The creative, the leadership and the new people they brought to bring ‘inclusivity’. The place is a sinking ship. Grey Consumer used to be good long long ago. Now they have Pharma to keep the lights on.
Does the agency have non pharma accounts? Perhaps asking to put a % of your time on something non pharma even pro bono or an agency pet project to try to prevent the pigeon holing?
@SVP that’s my fear. Since I’m moving to a new city and need a job, I’m going to take it but keep looking as well and keep making spec work.
I mean, why don’t you stay at your current gig and keep lookin?
Because I’m moving to a new city and an i need a job in said city lol
