What is the most contradictory line of feedback you have ever had? I got asked to write a strapline that was "short but detailed." That is like saying, "Be tall but also very small."

That sounds fairly familiar. I can recall being assigned short pieces, 400-500 words, and then being questioned why I hadn't included one thing or another. And it comes from readers too, if you omit something they'll come up with the idea that there's some conspiratorial reason beyond "it wouldn't fit."

“Short but detailed” sums up so much of media feedback. I once got “more dramatic but less emotional” as guidance. It is like they want contradictions on purpose.

Hello, I wanted to mention that I work as a sports commentator, specifically about soccer. I used to be one of the main journalists for Spanish media, but since I moved to Miami I feel the general passion for soccer is very different 🥲 The energy and commitment are not even close to what I felt in Spain, where some businesses would close if the match was too important. I hope this nostalgia goes away soon.

The station I work at is down at least 15 positions. Some jobs have been open for two years.

The remaining staff is required to step up.

Additional positions are opening up as contracts are either broken or expire.

How are people able to keep their mental health up when their station isn’t hiring people they need and refuse to pay living wages to potential prospects or promote those remaining?

Tell me your craziest experience working with a TV network. Here comes mine:

I'm American, but my family is mostly Colombian. I was told my aunt and cousins would come here for 2 weeks. I discovered they were going to be paid to appear in a famous Hispanic TV show, where a "judge" receives a case, hears the plaintiffs and defendants and renders a verdict. But of course, it's all fake and payed 😂 turns out she wanted me to go there (even though I don't work for that TV network) so she's sure she'll be paid at the end of the show. Wth did I just do.
