Wow. McKinsey, which has the biggest public sector presence of the MBB, really hasn't been doing too hot at all in the sector.
Its presence is tiny and it's gotten even smaller. Meanwhile it's bungling whatever opportunities it's getting.

As cutthroat as it is, I feel like I've been prepared better than anywhere else the past 3 years out of undergrad. It can suck at times but it is like tough love, it will ultimately make you a better professional.
Have worked at Deloitte, McKinsey, and BCG. I'd say Deloitte is by far the most toxically competitive. McK/BCG folks are highly self-motivated (read insecure) but also very collaborative -- especially at BCG (in my experience)
OP do the best you can. Find leaders you believe in and work for them. Be a leader you'd want to work for. Be strategic with your firm initiatives and take care of yourself and your people. And find your niche whether that be industry or practice. Prepare yourself for the next step in your career
Not sure about the rest of MBB, but I wouldn't consider BCG cutthroat
My roommate is from Deloitte and from what I've heard I would have to agree with the consensus above but even he said some projects are not that bad
Deloitte's culture is terrible. From a undergrad perspective though, them still seem to have the strongest package with MBA sponsorship and school relationship. I've also been invited to several company events where it was only MBB + Deloitte. Many people in class hate it though and are waiting to leave after the consultant promo.
Yeah Deloitte will give you very good, marketable skills. I've worked at Accenture as well but now work in industry. Do your time, grow your skill set and move on to bigger and better things
Left deloitte didn't get into northwestern came to KPMG did 2 years got into U chic and NW. It's all the same shit you deloitte snobs 😂
Although I do agree with most of what's been said on here, I have been lucky to make some great friends at Deloitte and work with some really smart, hard working people that I admire. Pros and cons wherever you are, I suppose
It is what you make it. My most toxic years where I felt like I was walking on eggshells were the years I was performing well yet inherently insecure, OR too secure and then reminded that at every level, at times ... one is a BA. Seriously this place is great - you just can't coast long and need to keep raising the bar. It is why time off, separation, all are important for longevity. I love it here, was an athlete ... can see why the career and Deloitte appeals to me ... DEFINITELY have days that remind me of the dreadful "one more sprint" - but wouldn't trade it. I like the stability (yes) of being part of a large company and the fact that it is big enough to accommodate my evolving interests. Expecting to be blasted here for being happy - would be nice to be proven wrong as have plenty of peers that feel the same way.
Its competitive. But seems like only the ones who failed complain...
D1, what makes Deloitte cutthroat?
Would not be surprised at all if it was Deloitte
Deloitte
Deloitte
A lot of people would consider S& to be quite cutthroat. Never understood that; I don't actually view consulting in general as particularly competitive until you reach the manager level.
Does this harsh culture at Deloitte prepare consultants better for future endeavors?
Why'd you go to kpmg after Northwestern?
@IBM it's unfortunate you had that experience but Deloitte is HUGE that was only two people there are ~26K people in consulting
Wait until y'all come up into the sm ranks. Sharpest weaponry is essential to survival. Don't let the cool aid blind you.
It's the Big 4, it's not cut throat at all, let's be real
I think it says something when that many people in the industry all point to Deloitte regardless of ones individual experience.
