Publicis global hiring freeze, affects all agencies. So Agency HR just being dicks.
I'm convinced Starcom hires temps just to fill the Leo Burnett elevators with loud, high-pitch conversations about excel, open laptops (like just close them when you're walking onto an elevator... it's weird), and people that go up one/two floors. Take the stairs, close your laptops, and talk about how shitty being part of publicis is. Like the rest of us do.
To be fair our laptops aren't trustworthy enough to close them right before a meeting. I've made that mistake before.
Takes a long time to get a position approved. Sometimes it goes all the way to France
Starcom does not have a hiring freeze right now. The temp thing is real. No clue why they do it that way. Most managers know the good ones within a few months and fight to get them hired FT, but it's not a priority for HR because someone is doing the job as a temp, so why hire them? Starcom loses a lot of really great talent from the temp pool.
I feel that. I'm there right now. Been a temp for 7 months and I'm still on a waiting list. It's frustrating.
Does HR not realize it costs the company more to string along freelancers? If they do a good job and they have the $$& for FTE then hire them.
Wait why do you close your laptops? Have I been doing this all wrong? Is this like an unwritten rule?
Or HR being creative to get around the hire freeze issue? Getting the job done and giving temps an opportunity to prove themselves?
What is the difference between temp and a contractor?
Probably has to do with the minimum wage restraints? At that level, keep them hourly and not mess with the hassle of the full time restraints if they don't make enough but are salaried...
