There are so many factors. I left a full time in office job that had a horrible commute and toxic work grind culture for the same pay for fully remote and have been with the company for over 5 years. Worth it to me and I also haven’t had the wear and tear on my car etc. I now have kids and the new company had parental leave.. so it depends on what makes sense for your situation but if you hate your current role or want to go remote then $ isn’t the only factor.
That sounds like a good deal. I'm assuming that the commuting has a dollar cost, as do meals, and clothes, and whatever else one needs to show up everyday in an office. If you wanted to know for sure if it's cost effective you could do the math. WFH has its advantages, though some people claim it can isolate you to the point where lack of visibility becomes a disadvantage. There's a line I've heard, people get promoted, names on Slack do not.
Hmm this seems alright to me, particularly with an established company
You’re probably saving the difference in commuting costs and time
I'd be willing to take a 15% paycut. I don't think I'd go any higher than that, though. As annoying as commuting to the office is, I need the money. If you can still live comfortably on your new salary, I don't think there's anything stupid about it. WFH is a serious lifestyle upgrade.
If it's a job you want and you can live on the reduced wages, it's not stupid at all. I also think this is a pretty typical situation these days. With all of the layoffs and a lot fewer fully remote roles being available than there were even a year ago, employers know they can offer less money and still attract plenty of good candidates, so they do.
