What leadership behavior has the biggest impact on employee retention?

My take is consistency. Employees can handle tough decisions better than unpredictable ones.

Being fair and consistent. Hands down

like

Sorry that's positive impact. The inverse of that is also correct. The fastest way to kill morale is to not be fair or constant.

Integrity

like

Taking accountability for their decisions and holding others to the same. Requires tough conversations at times, but needs a strong coaching skill set otherwise.

like

I agree with consistency. I have worked for managers who made difficult decisions, but because they were predictable and fair, people still trusted them.

Making employees feel safe and heard. Not judged.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

New fish looking for career guidance.

I'm a corporate recruiter with 3 years of experience. Finishing my degree in HRM 5/2022. I'm thinking of getting my SHRM -CP shortly after graduation.

I'm not sure of where to go after that, but I doubt I will stick with recruiting or my current firm.

Has anyone here started off in recruiting and branched out to other HR functions? Do you like your new role? Do you wish you stuck with recruiting?

I just started with a company as an HR Generalist. Within the 3 weeks of being there, my boss’s boss left, and today I found out my boss gave notice. HR is not valued at the company and it’s disheartening to know I was hired into a mess. I am now actively looking but how do I explain to other employers why I am actively looking and what do I put on my resume? I have never had to deal with this before.
