I'm a mechanical engineer, and people think I only fix cars when I don't even fix my car. They associate the word mechanic with an auto mechanic, it is an immense universe.

I am an aerospace engineer. One common stereotype about it is that it is all about designing and building planes. While this is a big part of our job, there is so much more to it! We also work on designing and building spacecraft, satellites, and missiles. Another common stereotype is that we are all men. This is definitely not the case! There are many women working in aerospace engineering and they are just as capable as the men.

I am a civil engineer and I think one common stereotype about it is that we only design bridges and roads. This is not true, as we also design buildings, water treatment plants, and other infrastructure.

I am a software engineer. I think one common stereotype about software engineering is that it is easy. This is not always the case, as there is a lot of complexity involved in developing software.

I am a biomedical engineer. One common stereotype about biomedical engineering is that it is all about medicine and surgery. While those are aspects of it, biomedical engineering is actually much broader and includes many other areas such as tissue engineering, medical devices, and diagnostics.

I'm a petroleum engineer, people think I make a lot of money. The thing that is not so, is the pay if it is good but not too good.

Computer engineer checking in. Misconception? That I LOVE computers and therefor would LOVE to fix the computer of every single person my Mom knows. Ok, this misconception may mostly come from my Mom.

I recently moved to the US, and it feels like there's no future for me here. I applied to numerous jobs, but I am having difficulty getting my CV seen. People keep telling me that I won't have much luck as a fresh grad here without any references because I didn't study in the US.
How true is this?

I am going through a divorce right now. I currently have a (my) family member stay with me to help take care of my children (until the divorce is finalized). My ex is oppose to my family member staying in the same house and decided to serve a notice to vacancy. However, I live in CA (community property state), and both of our names are on the title. Does my ex have any legal grounds to take such action to evict my visiting family member?

I feel like I've been lowballed, can someone explain the below breakdown please?

Base salary: 60k
Quarterly quota (per quarter): 107k
Quarterly bonus (per annum): 23k
130% Annual bonus = 11.5k
"23% commission on quota minus base": 37k (don't understand this)
"Proposed 23% commission on 150% quota minus base": 86.5k
Sales commission threshold per month: 22k
OTE: 122k
Cost/Sales: 28%

That base salary is lower than my previous base by a significant amount by 32.7%

been in industry (small companies) for 5 years with an active CPA. Wanted to get in SEC reporting roles but almost every company requires 2-year public accounting exp. Now applying for public accounting firms entry level positions but almost all firms HR asked if I had ever worked in firms. Got rejection emails from firms all the time. Is this a dead lock? firms exp matters much more than a CPA license?

Received an external offer in a customer success role. Overall TC is slightly lower than current salary. How would you negotiate? Help and advice is needed - never done this before. Base+Bonus 210K, RSUs 90K, Sign on 15K. Where can I get more and what makes sense? Current TC is ~250K

, good for nothing husband and they regret that this marriage happened and dragged every single discussion/scenario that we had in these many months in front of the family members.

i never abused my wife, never demanded anything materialistic from her and or her family, i have taken her to different places, bought everything that she demanded for

Confession: My wife surprised me with her first tattoo, and it's my name initials on her ribcage. I didn't do any work today and ignore a ping from MD - we had it 4 times. I love her so much.
