What was your "why valuation" interview pitch?

I'm in FDD and want to switch to a non-bank shop to do valuation because (a) I'm not that into M&A, want to do a job with a context broader than M&A all day long (b) FDD is still quite backward looking while valuation is forward-looking. I like fortune telling more than reading WWII (c) I did a valuation module at uni and loved it, but back then, stupidly thought only an Equity Research job was applicable and didn't want to work at a bank.

When it comes to promo strategy, what are some best practices you’ve learned thru your career (the hard way or otherwise)?

Made a career pivot to another agency. During the interview we talked about how it may start as initially a "step backwards" (pay/benefits) but has potential for more long term growth. One strategy that came up was having the applicant do 90 minutes of cold calling into real prospects with the hiring manager coaching.
