What is a good interview answer for leaving a job after a few months when the real reason is that you’re sleeping with one eye open in hopes of not being on the chopping block after two rounds of massive layoffs? Company culture is at an all-time low, and it will only go down from here from what I’ve seen in the short months I’ve been there.

Do you get unemployment checks if you get fired?

Interested to know others’ thoughts: would you consider the actuarial profession to be recession proof? Do you think there are some tracks that are more protected than others? From where I sit, it’s hard to imagine a layoff of actuaries in my group (health consulting); we have more work than we can handle and are still actively recruiting.

I'm scared of leaving consulting because I have commitment issues, I like not staying on the same team for more than six months , I like being able to quit projects with shitty bosses. In the industry, you spend an entire year with one team and that seems scary. Also there is no system of bench if you get fired.

I have a concern about an ex co worker whom was fired at the beginning of the week for poor attendance. Before being fired she was harassing me constantly sending me paragraphs of why she was mad at me and then would come in hug me and kiss my cheeks and apologize & then do it again. This happened a handful of times. She has come into work everyday since being fired just walking around. She has been texting my friends making up stories about me. Is there anything I can do? I’m in mid-size firm working for a partner. That partner (“P1”) is around 65 y-o, and tells me they’ll retire soon and have me replace them. I was promised a large raise by President (“P2”) by the end of this year, and when I didn’t get it, I started asking and P1 told me that P2 didn’t even remember the promise. So now I’m thinking whether I can trust P1’s promise to make me a partner soon too. If I become a partner, it’s worth sticking around. But what if this promise is also empty?

I have offers/potential offers from UK, Australia, Qatar.
Qatar is 18k to 20k riyal per month.
UK is 35k to 40k pounds per year pre tax
Australia, don't have an offer yet but will be around 70k to 100k AUD pre tax.
