I’d love to hear how you’d approach this dilemma. I’m currently a SWE manager and spend half of my day coding and web architecture along with Security and the latter half in managing and production support. Over the last two months, I applied to over 50 opportunities and had to turn down over half of them because they barely match my current compensation/benefits, and the ones that do either end up rejecting me because I’m being told there are better candidates. What determines strike price?

I view equity in startups as a potential future bonus. Currently, I’m evaluating a seed funded private tech startup that is net positive with a couple million $$ in annual revenue. I’ve been offered a few hundred options and am trying to understand if their strike price ($$$) is fair or not. What additional details would you ask the employer to share in order to determine if the equity offer is market competitive or not?
