Hi fishes, My interview with Microsoft for SE2 was scheduled and cancelled a day before. Neither I received any email regarding cancellation nor the recruiter informed me. Two days later I got an email saying Microsoft is freezing hiring for certain departments and the recruiter is ghosting me. Will I even get a chance to interview atleast?

I started with banking and switched to consulting. Consulting is a better fit for my personality, how I like to work, and more aligned with my interests. You can’t go wrong with either and always have the option to switch whenever you want, you don’t need to wait 3-4 years if it turns out you picked the “wrong” choice.
I worked at an asset management firm. I left because I found it to be boring/repetitive. I did consider consulting but I didn’t land the role I wanted straight out of undergrad. It doesn’t matter though, you’ll have plenty of chances to move around as you gain more experiences.
Depends what you want to accomplish in your life. If the goal is to enter the workforce and gain some experience, I would say consulting. Hopefully you'll get a wide range of exposures that can help guide your career ambitions.

Too general - what type of consulting and what type of banking

Should get much better experience there
Sounds like you’re gathering offers as a hobby!
From zero traction for 4 months to four offers simultaneously. Unexpected to say the least
Considering you could get laid off within 1 year, I’d go with the one who paid most up front (in case you lose your job). Banking seems a little worse off than consulting atm, but there’s no guarantees either way. I was working at a bank and it was pretty slow paced, whereas consulting is decidedly fast. Do things like morals matter to you (sounds like a dumb question, but just a thought to look at management of the offers and see if one seems cleaner or more trustworthy than others). I agree with others that it really may depend on your family situation, or if you’re wanting to have a bf/gf/spouse/kids in the next 1-3 years. If not, consulting seems like it will take more of your life than banking.
Agreed
For reference, I am entry level
Do you have family friends in any of the firms, family friends who have worked in the fields, or similar for actual family?
If you havent already, keep it straight over next conversation, and say something on the lines of "bob, i have to ask. You were good at X in college, I checked. Why banking?"
