What’s been the biggest thing you’ve had to unlearn growing up with Asian parents?

Hello - wise 🐠 of the north! Did anyone come here as a dependent with their spouse on study permit or vice-versa?

I know the general answer to this, but I want to know others response.
If by your 30’s you’re mostly established in life, why is it then harder to establish a long lasting relationship with someone ?

Moving to Charlotte with 3 year old near Palisades area. Please suggest good preschool. Is it too late for enrollment this year, waiting for house closing to provide local address to schools.

This is the only bowl I can think to post in, but I'm really feeling it today. Has anyone lost their best friend (i.e. through time/growing up) and feel like none of their current friends could live up to the fun/connection you used to have with your high school BFF? I feel like I put too much focus on that one friend and also my boyfriend and just never actually made time for anyone else. I fucked myself over.

Recommendations on an exceptional career coach who can help my husband? He works with his brother at a startup his brother founded (my husband is in-house counsel) but often finds himself belittled by his brother, cut out of conference calls and emails and generally feeling like he has no skills. He's an ivy league graduate and went to a great law school but for many reasons cannot leave this job right now. Looking for someone to help w/his confidence level and ways to approach his brother. I think living a frugal life and aiming to retire early makes a lot of sense.

Recently, some of my family members are diagnosed with a rare diseases. When you look at the statistics, these are so many of these ‘rare’ conditions and cumulatively they are not rare.

These family members conditions made me reevaluate how I want to spend my life. I am 35 this year and I can’t decide if I should take great vacations with my kids or keep living a frugal life. Do you have the same dilemma?

We have resolved the core issue which was mainly a misunderstanding but thinking back at it I think he’s right. My wife and I are both terrible housekeepers and our clutter is overwhelming us. We have two kids under 3 and a wonderful nanny but we need more help at home. How do we throw money at this problem? Where do we start to get ongoing professional help decluttering, organizing, cleaning, etc.? What has worked for you?

During the pandemic I dove into my self care (found a therapist, learned I was having seizures and got on meds for that). My journey has been difficult and not pretty to watch. Somewhere along the line I feel like my fiancé saw too much. I no longer feel like romantic parters and instead feel like we have a “caretaker/patient” type relationship. I don’t feel sexy or attractive anymore. I talked to him about this and he feels bad. But I feel guilty for bringing it up. Anyone else had this issue?

Slowly coming to the realization that I’ll be single forever for personal reasons - 40 M no kids. Trying to figure out how to take care of myself in my 60s-90s and what to do now to be as self sufficient as possible. Any advice would be welcomed.

Thinking of kids, and trying to wrap my head around what's normal, and what to expect with budgeting post delivery. Wife says 6 months after regardless of parental leave to recover. Then she wants to ease into it with part time work. Thoughts?

Why is it that a lot of couples I know living in big cities are in open relationship?

My sister and I have recently both come to the realization that our parents guilt us into spending time with them or visiting them and the guilt causes us both to shut down. Our dad is the main offender, often reminding us how little time we have left with him, asking us why we’re leaving so soon or reminding us about all the good deeds and sacrifices made. We’ve both noticed this shift in our relationship with our parents after graduating from college and starting our own adult lives. Continued
