Depends on practice and team. I’m in tax and our office badge swipes are taken into consideration for our operational metrics (2-3 days/week is the “expectation”). My team doesn’t enforce it, though.

Depends on who you are working for. This is where many of the more stringent managers of this policy will have have their people leave for other teams or quit and go elsewhere. Such managers will be at disadvantage.

In consulting it's project dependent. My SM wants our team in together minimum of 2 days a week, more when it's crunch time or when we are doing major solutioning. Our clients often want us to come on site too. My friend is on a 4 day/week client site project.
OP, not sure how PwC strictly enforces this but my friend ignored the return to office encouragement by her partners and is getting laid off due to that and low ut. Beware if your office ut is low in this case.
PwC1, exactly. No one can say for sure, but my friend seemed to be targeted. Whenever she asks for more assignments, the deployment team ghosts her.
