I would need a $1,500 a week to pay just basic expenses (mortgage, HOA, utilities, insurance) and food and gas for 2. Most are fixed expenses that cant be reduced, but overall I only spend like 25% of takehome pay at the most so that is reasonable.
Pre or post tax? Location, self or family/spouse/kids? I take home around 1,400k every 2 weeks. Live in Midwest. House paid off and set 20% aside for retirement. So around 68k a year. All depends on what you need?
Could make 2200/month work
Now that’s more like it! Geez!
Is that pre or post tax?
Good question lol
Assuming post tax, spending about 9k rn, not including any investments. Maybe 8k. Though if I was forced to live on less I’d move to a cheaper house which would help a lot
Annual spend, including mortgage and HOA, is around $60,000. Works out to about $1,150 week. HCOL.
And that includes taxes and insurance?
Family of 5, $1500 a week, $6,000 a month covers the minimum for everything.
1500 A WEEK?! I could and do live off of 2000 a month lol
Northeast you can’t get rent for anywhere close to that amount.
Your math is still rough. 811 in bills and 650 in rent so so 1461 on 1750. Not 1k per month. And you don’t spend anything above your bills?
Good on you if you can. But that’s not a possibly scenario in many major metropolitan areas.
$1500 a week is a bit over the top. Give us your spending list and your Fishy Friends will help you see how you can trim it to a more sensible number!
They are probably ignoring things like taxes and insurance that are certainly expenses. Unless I quit my job, my income taxes, SS, insurance, etc is near that.
Are you talking earnings (including taxes, saving, etc) or bare bones spend? We spend quite a bit as a family of five (maybe 2500/wk excluding taxes, saving) but could probably dial it back to 1,500/wk if needed.
I am sure I could move to some very inexpensive location and live on 40k a year, so less than 1k a week but I have no intention of doing that.
After tax?
Those of you throwing out numbers like $2,000 to $2,200 a month, you know that's $24,000 to $26,400. Fast Food workers earn more.
Lies. I don’t know any fast food workers making $2,000+ a month 🤔🤔🤔
Also, $1,500 a week is only $78,000 a year before taxes. Aren't most of you earning over $75,000?
You don’t need a brain to work at EY.
Family with 1 kid and 2 dogs, need about $7000 to cover everything a month but this number wouldn't build any sort of reserves for home maintenance, pet emergency, etc.
i guess half of it is spent on housing right?
lol try $1200 a MONTH for 4 YEARS. Yall are funny 😂😂😂😂
