Understood! I know many people at Cap who left with a similar story and bad taste in their mouth. But I also know many people there like myself who lucked into good projects and met the right people.
I think maybe you misunderstood my point on business model vs brand reputation. But I didn’t really come here to debate... Sounds like you are a lot happier now and I’m glad you managed to escape when you got the chance!
Hey DD1! Could you please elaborate? My SO is contemplating an offer from Capg! She wants to get into consulting and they were very interested in hiring her
Depends on experience and capability.. could be anywhere from 60-120. Details?
They don’t really care where you’re located, so getting a relocation stipend is unlikely unless they specifically asked you to move.
@I1 she has a Masters and 20 months of relevant industry experience!
They requested her to relocate.
I would coach her to shoot for 85-90k but also depends on what technology. More for in demand technologies like salesforce sap hybris workday tableau etc.
Op - I was there for 5 years and honestly it was probably 4 yrs too long. Within a yr I found that leadership there wasn’t very competent and there was a lack of methodology in all service lines I worked in. Cap still has a lot of catching up to do with other consulting firms and honestly the brand name isn’t very good either. Most would lump them into the likes of TAtA , infosys, cognizant etc. There’s also a bigger element of bro-ish culture there where brown nosing and who you know gets you promoted quicker vs being capable/performing at the next level which can be true of our industry in general but it was definitely way more apparent there vs Deloitte and Accenture where I also worked.
I would agree that 85-95 is about right for her experience, depending on what “service line” or technology she is going to join. Can’t say what their range is for relocation, but I’ve heard others say 5 and 7k. They may be willing to offer a signing bonus as well.
In response to D1 - I worked there for 3 years and just recently left. Like any consulting company there are pockets of bad people and projects and pockets of good ones. I had overall very positive experiences there and met a lot of great mentors. I highly disagree that Cap is the same as the Indian pure play companies.. Capgemini has far greater ability onshore to run and manage large transformative projects... and they charge a lot more as a result. As far as their business model and delivery capabilities go I consider it on par with Accenture, but granted with a lot less name recognition.
Inspire, yes everyone has different experiences. However, many others within my peer group as well as other coworkers on the same projects left because they felt the same. No exaggeration, all my projects had roughly a 50% attrition rate where most quit the company altogether but some tried really hard to roll off which eventually took place.I had thicker skin so I was willing to ride it out. I also gave other service lines a try but it didn’t make much of a difference. As far as brand name goes, I’d have to disagree. We could start a poll here on fishbowl but I’ve already seen many opinions here and the consensus is that Capgemini is usually lumped within those names I mentioned above. The bill rates arent on par with Accenture. My rate was roughly 50-75% more depending on the project at Acc for the same level. At Deloitte it was nearly double before I got promoted.
