So this won’t be the most impartial reply, but stay with me. Strategy at R/GA is wide: it covers everything from content strategy to upstream redefining brands. It’s collaborative as well: we have as many connections planners and analytics experts as general planners, and the partnership between them is a highlight. We’re mainly working with tech or cultural clients - Lego, Nike, Marvel, Samsung, Google, ESPN - which means we are solving more interesting problems. What you might think of as classic strategy skills - identifying sweet spot audiences, articulating what makes brands special, forming insights to build on - are in high demand here. And finally, we’re hiring. Open positions are all on our website. Thanks.
Hi, strategist here. Definitely depends on the group/accounts but there is a huge variety of strategic work. I think strategists here should feel comfortable doing a wide variety of work within digital, social, experience, and even more innovation/consulting too. Brand planning happens more so in the BT/consultancy department - but they have strategists too. And BT is becoming more integrated with the rest of the agency
It shouldn’t be a bro culture. There’s an even balance of men and women at ECD and strategy director level. And MD1, I’m sorry if you had a bad experience. I’ll talk with our recruiters.
This is awesome - me, as someone who is in contact with an R/GA recruiter now
Cheers Tom, much appreciated.
They have a terrible hiring process. They are nice upfront but ghost you after.
Do they look for a different background for the BT dept (Eg traditional mgmt consultants?) Outside of BT, are most client briefs digital/social?
Smart.
@MD1 had a similar experience unfortunately
Do planners work closely with creatives? From what I’ve heard NY had a fairly bro-ey culture that treated people poorly - is this still the case?
