I like this guy
Hell yeah
Starting salaries are fine. My first year associates are worth half of what they earn at best.
Wow OP. This comment is perfect yet never gets mentioned. Thank you for slightly restoring my faith in humanity.
Can I come work under you
Middle market firms just need to raise the cost of an audit. Some firms out there will work for almost nothing.
Middle market here. Had an $8k review then was blamed for blowing the budget after $4k was left after partner’s and QC time lol small client that was not familiar with deferred revenue concept nor able to tie any of the schedules.
With you Partner - but I don’t hold my breath on it happening, would need all firms to do this together.
Agree with OP. Has to happen.
But I agree big 4 partners can tighten their belts a little to increase pay for experienced staff.
Look to us in the consulting side. Dump up or out, then we greatly expanded pay bands for the middle (tons of people at 120 - 190), reduced hours (40-45) and the top makes less (2,3’s very very few in the 4s and 5s).
It’s not that complex, everyone just has to agree you’d rather all be in the middle vs anyone getting rich.
Trying living on a lowly Business Analyst pay when now they are required to do Associate/ Senior Associate work. It is crazy to expect a higher level of work from “paraprofessionals” who are paid $20/hour and aren’t trained for Associate level work.
“If” they can find a promotion somewhere as an Associate, the firm policy is an 8% increase. Seriously? What a joke.
Tough question.
It’s tough because I imagine in order to stick out to partner you have worked hard and likely not been well compensated until you make partner- you’re then looking to recoup. I expect that a firm looking to grow by hiring from outside will need to accept less growth for partner pay in return for attractive pay to non-partner staff.
Just curious if you are willing on an anonymous platform.. what is your annual comp?
Wait, your partner comp has been increasing over the past few years?
Absolutely has. Records set consistently.
