First year associate thinking about making the just from medium sized reputable IP firm to In House. Started at said firm summer of 1L year as a law clerk/patent agent in May 2019, have worked through school and full time as associate since Sept 2021. Feeling very “stuck” in day to day work. Love the patent/IP space but drafting and pros w/minimal human interaction is getting very difficult. Thinking In House would be better, but not sure how much experience needed. Thoughts?

How do you pick a startup to work for? How do you make the bet it’s going to grow or fail? I’m told I should pursue startups but I’m admittedly nervous about getting hired to one that fails and being jobless. I’ve worked for big companies that don’t grow or fail rapidly - it’s all pretty steady.

General corporate in NY looking to lateral into tech transactions at one of the EC/VC firms. I’ve heard that I may get a class cut if I make the move but I’m ok with that. My worry is that EC/VC firms are crazy busy work differently from general corp, I also won’t have control over my hours, and potentially worse based on how billing differs (block billing on a few clients vs having to work with 15 or more startups). Is the same true for tech trans or IP group?

I am trying to figure out how to switch to SWE. I have a masters in civil engineering and have a good background in higher level math. It looks like the better coding boot camps are quite expensive. The alternative is another masters in CS which is the same cost as many boot camps. Any recommendations on picking between a coding boot camp and getting another masters degree in CS? I have been giving a few interviews lately and every Company is asking me to confirm if i can get my NP reduced from 90 Days to 45 or 60 Days. I'm still under probation but assigned to a Project already. Should I ask my Account Manager and HR about it or its unethical to do so. Sad post, in need of some support **** my partner and i tried for 1 year to conceive naturally, only to have a miscarriage and start our IVF journey. 1 year into that - we had 5 healthy PGT-A and PGT-M tested embryos and were hopeful to implant. Implantation 1 just failed. We lost 20% of our chances that took 1 year to build. And tine just keeps ticking

Stupid Question- We have been thinking for IVF and trying to understand with this process, is there any difference in the health and life of the child as compared to a child born without IVF. I did ask this with our doctor and he said casually its all same. This is not to question any doctor but just to really understand what is going to be different with the kid. I took FAR in Aug and AUD last week. Didn’t pass FAR and feeling like I may have passed AUD. My original NTS for them runs out on dec 18. If I get a new NTS for one of them to take before busy season do I have to wait to take it until after my original NTS runs out?
