Hi All,
Looking to make the move from working in industry to big4 and was curious as to what level and pay I might be worth?
I have 10 years experience out of uni, as well as completed CPA and MBA. I have a experience in managing entire finance function of small/medium entities, but most notably solid corporate finance experience/strategy leading refinance exercises, debt raising, hedging/treasury strategy etc…Would be looking for something in deal advisory / M&A / CFO advisory etc….thanks Deloitte EY PwC @

I would hold until Feb before you consider. Only because industry is generally not making large decisions before then. Will enable you to understand options - alternatively reach out to your alumni (lots in Woolworths and Qantas) to see what they say.
Yeh and I would add this is natural for this time of year normally. But I’m feeling it more this year than previous years.
Could you just take a break? If you like the job but feel burnt out, that seems like one way to fix the issue
There’s a lot more anxiety in the air. Fishbowl doesn’t seem to have a critical mass of Australian consultants yet to provide a reliable barometer of this, but good luck finding someone who doesn’t feel this.
Usually, someone would answer “the biggest pro of exiting is the growth opportunities”, which, whilst a platitude, is broadly true. But, the circumstances this year make such a phrase ring hollow. This is because existing positions are less certain and possible positions (“opportunities”) are nebulous at best.
This zeitgeist is recent and it sucks, so don’t feel bad/weird for feeling it. It’ll swing back around, and it’s wise to realise we’re at some sort of apogee; things won’t continue in this trajectory, but rather slow, stop, and reverse. Hang in there.
