I went on a group trip in august to Florida where the entire group was fully vaccinated. One person was confirmed positive with Covid the day after we left, so very likely she got it there. The rest of the group were fine. FWIW still fully think vaccinations are 100% worth it - we were all in close quarters and only one person got sick, and only mildly

My wife and I had it 2 weeks ago. We are both vaccinated. She works in ER research. My 02 stats were borderline for about 2 days, but other than exhaustion and sinus issues, I came through ok. She’s back at work too
Me and my husband got it last month. I didn't have any symptoms at all but he did get some cough and sneezing. We thought it was allergies to our new dog and then he lost sense of taste so we both went to get tested and we were positive. He was going in the office for a week before finding out. Its a bit terrifying that you can be so asymptomatic and not realize you have Covid-19 and spread it...
That makes sense! And I guess whether it is or isn't Delta, precaution measures such as quarantining are no different so it doesn't matter to the individual I guess.. How do they (Msm, CDC, etc.) know that the rise in covid-19 cases are Delta variants. This was the main reason I assumed I had Delta because it's it's variant currently in high transmission.
Delta, mid July. Symptoms were sinus pressure and dry cough. Doctor prescribed me antihistamines and Advil. Without the mandatory test, would’ve never known. Fully recovered in 3 days. No vax at the time due to ongoing medical diagnosis.
Edit: nvm realized this thread was about people not knowing if they had Delta or not Delta.
Wife and I have it rn, unvaxxed. Probably the worst sickness I’ve ever had, 103 fever and splitting headache for 3 days, but it’s letting up now. Resting heart rate from 47 to 76. 26 M healthy
A1- how is your elderly relative doing? Since vaxed, are they having an easier time than you?

How does anyone actually know whether they’ve had delta? Genuine question. From what I understand, there’s no test to distinguish … it’s all just “covid” regardless of the strain.

There is testing to identify variants. That type of testing is often done using people who are hospitalized (‘cleaner’ samples), and is often administered at the local level. There are many features that can distinguish one variant from another. Think of it like a signature; a combination of components that make it unique.
The more dangerous variant isn’t Delta, it’s Mu
I don’t know that I had delta, but statistically I probably had it. Same with my siblings and one roommate. None of us were vaccinated. My siblings went through basically mild cold like symptoms. My roommate had a flu like experience with bodyaches and slightly more tired from it. And then I had a flu like experience with all the usual COVID symptoms (loss of taste, smell, bodyaches) and then I got pneumonia so that was rough. Otherwise, nothing too crazy fortunately.
Yeah I got it. Back in Fall ‘19. Or maybe it was Mu? Which one is worse? I got really sick that Fall.
I should also say, I had a slight change in taste and smell during and after covid. It fluctuated during active infection then seemed blunt my taste and smell more about 5 days after testing negative. It persists but gets slightly better daily. I also smelt a really weird burning rubber smell randomly throughout the day, the day before I tested positive
