Where in SF are you that it's beautiful with clean streets? When I've visited it's been dirty, full of homeless people, and sometimes you have to try to avoid stepping in human feces just walking down the sidewalk.

Um the homeless everywhere, constant protests about anything, the smell, “is it animal or human” game, overpriced, tech bros everywhere, traffic
Thank you for acknowledging the perpetual “is it animal or human” game.
I love how SF is constantly hated on, yet, has the most expensive and competitive housing market in the country.
I get the gripes and “overhype”. Just saying that the demand is still high. Have fun in Miami, Austin, Denver, etc!
BCG1: nah, not true. There's not much space in SF for new housing, and if you're thinking of tearing down current buildings to build higher capacity buildings, the city infrastructure can't handle that. Another counter to your argument is all of the peninsula and east bay housing that exists, is less resisted and more frequently built up yet still extremely expensive. It's just a great place to be. Truly the land of opportunity 😘
The place stinks if urine. I remember that dialog from Apocalypse Now - “I love the smell of napalm in the morning” replace napalm with urine..
SF used to be my favorite American city. But last time I was there two homeless guys threw bottles at us and one chased us with broken bottle. So that would be a no from me.
Don’t San Fran’s bars close at 2am? How am i supposed to have a lit af summer when the bars close 2 hours after pregames end?
PwC 4, coming from another major city in the U.S., your defense of the night life scene in SF is downright embarrassing. TIL not to move to SF until I'm ready to permanently give up going out at night.
Lived in the bay for a couple years, actually ended up liking Oakland more than the city.
Main factors for leaving - identitarian local politics / culture (I’m a liberal POC FWIW), cost cost cost, infrastructure is terrible, poor public management, etc.
Sounds like you mixed up San Diego with San Francisco
Pro
Sunnyvale; Palo Alto; Los Gatos aren’t SF
I am from SF. Born and raised. Have since moved to NY.
Rising Star
You're describing London, not SF.
There’s a lot to like about SF. Has its problems, but I still want to live here. I feel like a lot of people who complain live in the wrong neighborhoods (soma, fidi etc.). Too close to the real craziness over there and better cities if you really want a nice new building. I’ve always felt better to get an older place but live in pac heights, marina or Russian hill, for example.
Lol the streets are not clean, they reek of urine and feces. Climate us consistent if not good it is rarely bad (my roommate complained about it "raining" today 🙄). It is expensive and hard to make lasting friendships. Not the worst city to be in but few people stay. Definitely an experience and I am glad to be here for covid vs NYC.
This last bit was my experience too about lasting friendships. Feel it’s easier to befriend ppl in other places.
Fun place!

Fully agree OP! Can’t wait to leave NYC for SF once I’m 28 :)
Missed the snow :(
1. It’s always grey
2. It’s expensive
3. Up and down hills gets tiring
What the eff is up with all Deloitters raving about SFO today. Op is this you again bruh….

San Francisco for me was hands down the worlds (ok the USA’s at least) best city when I visited in 2001 or so.

I’m just violently angry that 2001 was actually two decades ago instead of “you know, a couple years back” like it feels.
Op has never been to the city.
Ever been to Miami?
If I could afford a nice house to live there then sure maybe
