Truly shows how little $ say about a person
I paid more in taxes last year than my parents grossed in their last 10 working years.
They started working at 16 and 17.
They live in a house I bought them.
Alright now you have to share your comp stats. Also congrats!

How do you guys know your parents income? I asked once when i was probably 8 or 9 years old, and they told me it wasn’t my business and I never asked again since.

At some point I just overheard it and then when I started working I was supplementing their income
You’re not adjusting for inflation. Their $200k is not our $200k. Also, the COL was way lower, even factoring in inflation.

They both came from poverty and worked their tails off. Funnily, we never lived "rich" - all of my siblings and I went to public school, ate often at home and rarely out, and also applied for every grant and scholarship possible to graduate without debt.
My TC currently - $180K
Parents now run their own small business, their current TC - $100K
What is your YOE?
My parents TC 375k

Curious to see if most of us are surpassing our parents or performing worse financially
Gotta compare it to inflation to really get a true comparison though. Those numbers aren’t apples to apples comparable - think TVOM/ NPV concept
Here’s an inflation calculator to compare
I’m making 40k less than my dad who’s in the same industry with 25 more years of experience than I do.
My parents never made over 40k...ever. That's accounting for inflation.
I'm at 120k, 5 years into my consulting career. The American dream is alive.
My parents never cracked 100k but retired early and own multiple homes in LA. They are doing just fine. High TC isn't the only way to live.
Tc of my parents 50k
My tc at 15, 500k
Am I doing fishbowl correctly?
