Does ey gds lay off?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Don’t worry OP! Julie will lay-off people during recession and blame poor performance of the employees. She did this during Covid
And then send out a mass email to the employees asking them to refer all of their friends…like the ones they had just fired
I‘d be surprised to see industry-wide layoffs in consulting as most types of consulting are still in crazy high demand. Why would you expect that to change?

Probably just people who insist on working from home indefinitely. 😂
What layoffs?
Yes. Be strategic about where you are and your specialty.
You have to step back and see the horizon. It won’t suddenly collapse. First there won’t be the same number of opportunities. That is happening now. Not quite sure when layoffs occur. Seems to be specific to the industry and firm.
See 2020. Laid off people just in case (but called it non performance, to add insult to injury.)
In consulting it’s always “performance based” :
Do you really work 8-5 honestly only on project work ?
The global leadership team just reiterated to our North American team that we are still hiring with no changes to the 2022 plan.
I do appreciate that fact. Companies have to make some kind of decision in the face of uncertainty. The last two years is a huge example. But I also read from a number of sources and believe literally the last 10 days or so was a tipping point. The question becomes how deep and now quickly. I’m guessing flat in the employment market, which will have an impact on hiring and salaries. Not sure after that yet.
