With the market as it is, are we seeing a lot of people taking a step backwards in title or pay in order to land a new job?

Yes — title and comp resets are definitely happening. In this market, some people are prioritizing stability, scope, or growth potential over linear progression. If you do take a step back, it helps to be intentional about the trade-off (e.g., learning, brand, team, work-life balance) so it still ladders up long-term.

Yep, no way am I asking for $250k+perks; not in this economy. We're just trying to survive at this point.

I'm not sure this is the best strategy, we should still try and be the ones in demand and thriving shouldn't we?

I haven't yet, but I see less and less appealing job postings out, so I wonder if I will also be in that situation once I'm in need! Maybe it is time to do a "market check" round of interviews!

Yes, it’s happening. Some people take a step back in title or pay to get into a better environment or a role with clearer growth. What matters most is whether the move resets your momentum and lets you build skills or impact you couldn’t before.

Unfortunately, in this type of economy and market, it will become a norm

Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?

If I should negotiate, any tips?

Hey, another question for y’all. How should I reach out to a recruiter who offered me a full time position but I rejected for a better offer? At the time I was offered the position my main concern was lack of guidance/support from leadership. Now, a year later I have experience being in a role with limited over site (not as scary as I initially thought it would be) and feel confident I would excel in the role I rejected. How would you approach this situation? Thanks in advance!!

I have a a question for recruiters-what’s the biggest misconception you’ve heard about recruiters like “they don’t read resumes” or “ways to reach out to a recruiter” anything like that? I’m always to myth bust and want to share some stuff with my team of recruiters.

I posted this somewhere else before I remembered that I am in this bowl :) so, I changed jobs 6-7 months ago and I am realizing it is not a good fit. Leadership seem to not want to hear the truth so people tell them what they want to hear and if you don’t middle management gets pissed at you. I am seriously thinking about looking somewhere else. My question is how do you answer the “why are you looking to leave” question without bad mouthing your current company?
