Whats wrong with home edition?

Just bought a writers desk from a Pottery Barn outlet and love it! My 48” x 24” desk was no longer cutting it for my two monitors, laptop, etc. 64” x 32” is the perfect size IMO.

I love my IKEA desk

I customized it using their options for tabletop, legs, drawers and created a double desk for my husband and I. They have so many different options and sizes you can create anything to fit your space.

Definitely go cocobolo

I’m eyeing up a Jarvis from fully.com . I was promoted into a full time remote role and sitting all day is killing me - I just don’t take the breaks or walks that I used to, and my Amazon ergonomic chair isn’t anything compared to what I had at the client site. I have 3 monitors + my laptop that I use, so I’m going to invest in a large top with an articulating monitor arm. It’s super pricey (to me, I’m a lowly senior), but considering what Is have to pay for chiropractic care I’ll need from sitting so much now that our insurance plan has turned over, it’s a worthy investment. Plus, they have a 7 year warranty if I remember correctly.

Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).

Working on a regular desk and my laptop has been killing my back and neck for last few years. Finally spent a couple hundred dollars on a standing desk, wireless keyboard, and back/neck heating pad to alleviate the pain. Very hopeful working will be much better now.

Just landed a full time gig, looking to get some furniture so I’m not working on my parents’ kitchen table during this remote period. Any recommendations for desks and chairs? I’m hoping to find something that’s easy to assemble and break down for when I need to move, and something that won’t cost an arm and a leg.

I know everyone has a different kind of setup that works for them. I currently have a laptop, drawing pad, second monitor, and a desk riser.

I have desk whiskey in my home office that I use for most days that end in “y”.

1099 or w-2 ? I have been given the option though the company prefers w-2. It’s a day rate booking couple of months or more (no end date). I already have 1099 from similar company this year and am leaning towards 1099, but I don’t want to be difficult. I do take home office deduction and they are not supplying any equipment. Suggestions?

Hey beautiful people,
I’m 27Y and work in tech. Unfortunately my carpal tunnel is getting worst slowly. I’m worry that I still have like 45 years more to be retired and can’t stop working because I have a f* mortgage to pay 😭 I have a super ergonomic workstation, but I know my hand needs a long rest, and I can’t do it… Does anyone relate? What do you recommend?

I started my new job completely remotely in June and when we go back to the office, it would be a 1.2 hour, 40-mile one way commute.. Would it be entitled of me to ask to come into the office 3x/week since by the time that we return to the office, I’ve already proven that I can work efficiently from home? I feel like it’s a much more sustainable option.

I see several posts from people asking how they can help during these times with a few extra $$$ to spend. Here is just one of many ideas.

www.stepuptothetable.com

#stepuptothetable is about helping local restaurants who are struggling during these times. I have seen numerous linkedin posts with videos where people challenge each other to step up to the table & buy meals & gift cards from their community restaurants. A great way for those of us who are more fortunate to support business & keep people employed.

Any books/self help materials for someone who is constantly worrying (and waste a lot of unnecessary time)? E.g. No matter if i pass or fail an interview, there is always something to worry about. The worrying/anxiety multiplies when I proceeded further in the interview stages. Now that I signed the offer and is pending background checks, my anxiety is off the roof as it itches closer to my starting date.
