Wearing my hair in an Afro to a video interview. My hair curls tightly so it will be medium sized. Not willing to wear a wig or straighten my hair. I will have on lipstick earrings nice jacket. But if my Afro is an issue, me being Black is likely to be an issue too. Agree?

I feel like gay men especially are constantly discriminated against in the workplace. I have been turned down for a promotion, yet again, in favor of a married heterosexual with kids. This has been the story of my career. Have superior experience - stellar reviews - people fighting to get on to my team because our team is great and I treat everyone well. This is so frustrating. Again and again, it’s a culture of parents helping other parents. No gays in upper level mgmt in our office.

I’ll be asking my last job for a letter of recommendation but I’m not sure who to ask. My boss, who is lovely and would write an amazing LOR. Or my boss's boss who would put minimal effort in but it would have more weight.

I'm lateraling to another firm because frankly I think the management of this one is terrible, but the people (and individual partners) I actually work with are awesome. I've only been here for about 18 months, so I imagine that short time frame will make it extra awkward 😬

I recently quit my job. My VP was a narcissist and never really looked out for my upward progression even though he said he was my sponsor. Whenever I would do a solid job, he would always down play it or give the mid-level mgr credit even though other people / management acknowledged it. But we still got along. What is the worst reaction you’ve had after giving your notice? I just gave notice and I have never had a boss that tried as hard to make me change my mind as this one. Offered me basically anything I wanted.

Is there any advantage to telling a company you are interested in working for in the future where you decided to accept an offer from? Or does it not matter? I accepted an offer a week ago with a great company (Company A) that for this season in my life seems like a great fit and only strengthens what I have to offer company B down the road. Company B just sent me a request for interview and I want to keep the door open with Company B but they were just very late in extending an interview.
