Hi Fishes
I want to share very bad experience I had at Mastercard
I was given offer by Mastercard in month of Dec The hike was less but looking at brand & other perks I accepted the offer & was looking forward to joining them.I got few offers & I went back to them for sole purpose of renegotiating CTC, to have a industry standard hike. They didn't reverted back for 2-3 days & just dropped a mail that they are revoking initial offer as well on grounds that they didn't like i gave other interview

When the person walking me up the the department head’s office said, “don’t take this seriously, he’s a total jerk so just let it go and you’ll be fine! He’s not involved day to day anyway!"
He was, indeed, a total and complete jerk, so I withdrew my application. Not long after this, he was fired, along with some junior staff who had helped/enabled him to commit fraud- Including the guy who walked me up to his door.
Twists and turns with every sentence
I went to the dentist 5 hours prior to my interview, so that it would be all good by then. Unfortunately, the dental work did not go as planned and they had to do a lot, for a long time, and do a lot of numbing shots. As I was leaving, half of my face was extremely numb, even my skull. I walked for about 30 min to the place, to give myself time to chill (it was a nice warm day). We got to the interview, she was very excited to meet me, proceed telling me all about the role and the company. Then it was my turn. I did this so many times by now, I started going on autopilot and give a well prepared speech on why I’m so amazing at what I do, and I realize that only half the words I’m pronouncing are coming out ...then I see her face go from curious to completely disgusted... I look down and see that I am drooling all over on my own resume.
Hahaha that is amazing
I had a creative director describe using his new binoculars to watch the different ways people have sex in hotel rooms.
I had someone tell me “I’m not an in the weeds kind of guy, I’m a big picture guy” for an entry level position
He got the job, then got fired a month later. Didn’t even understand he wasn’t doing well.
I just finished interviewing a bunch and I have to say some recruiters are pieces of entitled shits. Like at least do me the decency to tell me that you’re not considering me for a position anymore instead of ignoring my 5 follow up emails after you said you’re waiting to hear back from the team for avails to bring me in. 🙄🙄🙄
Still got me a new job Their loss 🤷🏽♀️
I shaked hands, said bye, opened the door and stepped into a closet.
I had an interview in a tiny room that was 100 degrees. Or so it felt like it. I was so delirious I couldn’t answer his questions.
@CD6 I have literally never worn a tie to an interview in my 20+ year career. Nor to a client meeting. I’ve never had a problem.
I just got off the phone with exactly your situation. No chemistry, strained questions, no common ground. We were both just trying to figure out how to get off the phone in the end I think. So sad. I was interested in the role but I don't think I would've been able to hold a five second conversation with them if I got it.
Had an interview early in my career at BBDO India and Josy Paul asked me how I'd fix India. I'd been there for, like, a week. I totally choked.
Interview at Riney back in the day. 10 or 11 in the morning. The ECD walks me past the very prominent open bar and asks if I’d like a scotch. I declined. That interview was over right then and there but I had to endure 20 more minutes while he sat at his desk and twirled the scotch against the ice cubes in his glass and stared at me distrustfully through narrowed eyes. Next I talked to a CD who was obviously so depressed and almost tried to talk me out of working there, which didn’t really matter, because I was a young girl in patent flats who didn’t want an early morning scotch. Next.
Interviewed at a small agency, went OK, they went with someone else. Few years later a headhunter I respect told me the job was open again. I told her I’d been there, but she resubmitted my book, they liked it, I went back in. Sat down and reminded the CD we’d met. This horrible CHILL descended and I realized that even though we’d only met that once, and even though he’d liked my work twice, for some reason, wow, he really hated me.
same thing happened to me- was pushing for a strategy role within X holding company, and eventually made my way to the same person in leadership twice (referred by managers 6 years apart). She deflated my enthusiasm twice, a complete dead end. But its okay I love my job now- and its not with her company!
Showed up for an interview where I was scheduled to meet two people. While waiting, I started chatting with the other person in reception who was clearly there for an interview. Turns out, it was with the same two people. We were double booked!! I ended up meeting with one person and she met with the other. Don’t think we didn’t know. lol
I didn’t get a whining vibe. It seems like a mildly awkward position to be in, I get it. I’m sure his happens often but when I schedule interviewees I always put at least an hour between them.
Last year I flew cross country for a full day of back to back interviews... only to discover only the most junior person interviewing me had seen my resume. I was an unexpected surprise for everyone else. 🎉
Another one:
Agency calls me in, thrilled by my credentials. Show me my future office, I meet all the colleagues and the president talks to me for an hour. The CD however, is seen sneaking out the back door to avoid the meeting (later I’m told she does that often) but we persevere. After hours and hours I’m told offer will come Monday when HR person is back - It’s Friday.
This is before the word ghost was used, but yeah...that.
I interviewed at moxie ny whatever the hell that is. This was a long time ago. So the guy interviewing me is like “I’m new to the city or industry" something like that. So the interview goes along and he’s just asking me the specific names and positions of everyone I’ve worked with or currently working with and is writing it down in front of me. Asking like for specific creative names that I didn’t even work with directly. I finally ended up visibly angry and just tried to wind down the interview. I was fuming and always wanted to go back and do it over and confront the guy but I was so caught off guard.
One time, I interviewed with an EP who referred to me as “this girl” to all the editors (who also proceeded to talk about me in third person), gave me a long tour through their telecine lab (no longer in use), skipped over where I’d be working (tiny dark closet), joked to the only two women in sight I’d be taking their jobs, and, last but not least, added they hated the client they were working for. Granted, it was a band and not an agency, but still not professional! So many red flags, I ran and never looked back!
I had an interview with a creative director early in the morning who seemed hungover and was completely monotone to boot. So I matched his lack of energy in the interview. He told my recruiter that I wouldn’t be a good fit because I had no passion. But I won out, I wouldn’t ha e wanted to deal with that droll day in and day out
During my job search in NYC, I was Interviewed by the “CEO” of this startup, Brazilian guy, like 25 yo and there was a huge line before and after me that literally spent less than 2 minutes with him. Everybody was like what the hell? And everytime someone walk out the office, they just looked at the rest of us and couldn’t help but crack up. Afterwards, it seems everybody made it to the second round and they ask us to come the next day to work “for the entire day” just to see your skills.
It has been the most bizarre interview experience I’ve ever had.
This was during a really bad/dark time in my life and a couple months later was actually hospitalized (much better now thanks for wondering), BUT I actually whipped out a music making machine and showed their CSO how innovative the design was. I also managed to make a jr person interviewing me angry and she said ‘let me put it simpler for you’. Thanks for making me remember. 🥺
Love those music making machines. Their loss if they didn’t appreciate your creativity. I am sorry the junior person was a jerk to you... Sounds like you are better off for not working in that sort of environment. I’m glad you got treatment and you are doing better now. Onwards and upwards.
Oh man. I one time interviewed with this guys, who was eating his lunch. Food hanging out of his mouth and all — I was repulsed. Talking to this guy while he was shoveling some garbage in his mouth. Smelling like McDonald’s French fries - have some respect for the person you are interviewing and yourself I’m glad I didn’t get that job because after that garbage I didn’t want it. Me and this guy wouldn’t have worked well together at all.
Strategist 5 I like how I know this is definitely an Anomaly interview because we all watch people have sex in The Crosby from our office windows....
I had that same feeling and experience on a first date with an account director from 72. Zoinks.
