Don’t know your financial situation, but no.
For 125k I’m not doing billables period.
This is big law goggles. I agree 125k for 2000 is absurd but 125k for 1600-1750 is pretty typical for a smaller market.
I would do it, just to get back into the workforce. You could do it for a year and reassess, or keep applying. But $125,000 a year is better than $0. It might be worth doing some troubleshooting to figure out what you were having so many issues with in terms of billables and preparing yourself.
Not great but it’s easier to job hunt while you have a job than if you don’t. Take it but keep looking.
Correct. And there is always a chance OP will end up liking it.
Just take it knowing you’re not going to meet the requirement but to have source of income while you continue job hunting. Maybe slow the job hunting down while you get acclimated back into the job force, then pick back up in 90ish days.
As a lateral position, no. As a job when you have none, yes. Give it your best, try to be efficient during regular working hours, try to unwind and turn it off (or have boundaries) to avoid burnout, and keep looking.
Also - look at a job as staff attorney with a court or a governmental agency (try state or municipal). Pay might be slightly less but work hours and general experience should be way better and help you get to a better place in life generally.
Definitely not, you’ll just end up burnt out again
If you need a job, I would take it. But I would do my best to continue looking and interviewing after starting the new job to try to land something better.
F no. I would rather not practice than accept that offer. Nobody should accept that offer.
OP here, thank you to everyone for their comments! I decided to decline the offer, back to the job hunt!
What room do you have to negotiate? It might be worth taking just to get you back at work but maybe bumping up the salary even by 10k or so would make it more palatable
Hell no MCOL area with 5 years of exp.
Nooooo
No. Only as a very temporary placeholder.
Absolutely not. I’m a legal ops analyst with just a bachelor’s degree and I make $131k and I don’t track my time at all.
I personally wouldn't take it unless you actually need a job. If you are leaving a role to take that role, I don't think I would. I agree with others, not worth it.
This is my current compensation and billables lol but my firm doesn’t cut hours billed and allows for some non billable time to be put in for training. If the firm cuts or reduces hours the yeah it’s going to be a lot
DM me
Take the job to hold you over while you keep looking. That’s not somewhere to be long term
That turns out to be 16.00 per hour. I have NEVER heard of 2000 billable hours. That is egregious. Run as fast as you can from this job.
Insurance defense litigation hours.
I would take it.
Do the math at least, first?
