Also liberal arts background here: I think you'll enjoy #2 more because you'll be surrounded by smarter people
Really? They are just starting to build out a data science team. They poached a bunch of graduate degrees and have built infrastructure over past few years, but I’m worried the tech company would be well better at tech even though it’s a lower level role
Pay is the same. 1 year in consulting, liberal arts degree
Wow are you me?? Same life choice rn
I’d do the latter. You’d learn more in the second position and I would think it’s more interesting.
How did you end up in data analytics/data science from a liberal arts degree?
I thought all development is done offshore! Good for you.
oh crap I misread your post! thought you were deciding between SQL/BI at F500 and ML at tech... ooops lol. Your dilemma is one tough cookie. I do people the culture at tech firms are typically better/more intellectual oriented than finance-focused companies
First one sets you up for FAANG later which pays more then other industry roles
They pay similar...the point of my comment is if you go to f500 industry it’s hard to get into FAANG later if that’s your goal and they generally pay more as you go up. Pay may be similar at lower levels but many sr manager and above make $400k plus which is not true at most fortune 500s
My own perspective would be both are great but choose what type of work you want to do. First time will be more BI more business data focused other will be more dev focused. If you’re interested in building more dev skills than latter more business insights and consulting esque role then first. Choose whatever type of work you want to do
I think that’s something you need to figure out, i can’t answer both are great opportunities and will set you up in 5 years
