Just because a job is easy to come by does not mean that it is necessarily worth it. The pay being lower I could almost stand, but it is all the other factors looming around would probably be harder to deal with. I can’t fight with admin all the time or other nonsense things. It is my experience they are needed the most there for certain reasons.
California is one of the best places to teach, compared to the rest of the US, despite what many say. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have the pay, benefits, and job protections that I do, Due Process being the most important of all. I simply could not do this job effectively without being a part of a union.
I used to teach in SoCal. Other than the cost of living and really not liking the area I was living in, Teaching in Cali. was mostly a good experience.
Not to ANY of those states.

Georgia pay depends on what county you’re working for. Gwinnett County in Georgia starting pay is about 60,000 with a bachelors. anywhere outside of that may be significantly less.
I just couldn't do it, I have too much family here and my kids would hate being pulled out of school to move. If I was younger and childfree though, I would definitely see it as an opportunity
Echoing other posts, I would say there's a reason those states have so many openings.
Especially after watching two once-in-century hurricanes roll through within two weeks of each other, I think I'll pass on making a move any time soon.
Do you have a link for this data. I would be curious to see it.
It would take a lot. I moved back to my home town 10 years ago and now teach here. I love my district. I honestly think we get better support and treatment than any other district in the area. Plus, I recently started a business in addition to teaching and its not easily moveable.
So I'm motivated to stay, but if a lot of negative changes happened in our district I would consider it.
I don’t think I could ever leave New York to teach in another state. Also, my whole family lives within 45 minutes of me now. I tell my husband all the time I would NEVER leave unless he was offered a job with a salary like 3x what he makes now. We both know my salary would not increase with a move to the south.
