Bain & Company I have a second round with Bain & Company coming up at the DC office for Experienced Consultant role. Excited, but hella nervous. Recruiter said it’d be 3 separate interviews, all with Partners; 2 case, 1 fit. About 40 mins each. First round was 2 case interviews with Sr. manager & Associate Partner. Been a rough year, so definitely looking forward to this opportunity. I’ve been on the site and going through preparation and materials. Any advice or suggestions welcomed!

I would rather have the higher paying job. Work life balance is what you make it to be. I work a ton but still go to the gym everyday. It just depends on how much the activities mean to you depends on how much you will make them happen.

I think that that's fair and unless the hours you're working is actually way beyond what is normal, you're right you should be able to make things work depending on how much you want to make them happen
I would take the higher paying role. I’ve never had a lot of luck with work life balance anyway. So I’d rather have the higher income and financial stability.

I agree with this for the most part. Do you draw the line anywhere though? I only ask this because during one of my roles in our busiest season, I was pulling 80-90 hour weeks LOL
I have a low paying low stakes design job. It’s also stable and pretty decent work life balance. I’ve been applying to higher paying jobs that require more onsite visits, more commute but higher pay and are contracts vs full time. In the Bay Area I need to make more money.
Thinking about considering other careers but I’m already old.

Yea timing definitely plays a role and it would make sense to suffer and deal with it when you're younger but I feel like as I get older, as long as the pay is still decent, I don't necessarily want to continuously chase money if it means that I have less time and energy to do things that I want outside of work
Work/life balance for sure. I have been spoiled with a fully remote position for the last 6+ years that allowed me to take my dogs for a hike everyday. Happy dogs, happy life. I’d be miserable if I had to go back to long hours/commutes & paying other people to walk them.
I think it depends on how "low" it is and also on the timing. Like if we can still maintain basic living standards and live more happily, then we can choose the lower option. Sometimes it's not the bad choice; I believe if we really have work-life balance, we can find more opportunities to develop more than just making a lot of money.
