For $24k - $2,000 a month before taxes - you’re giving up flexibility to be in office 80% of the time with over an hour commute plus gas, which for argument’s sake would be roughly $200/month. Tax prep let’s assume you work an average of 45 hours per week, 180 per month. You’re basically getting an extra $10/hour before taxes. Is that worth it to you? Depending on where you are in life, could be a nice jump. Assuming other benefits (PTO, insurances etc) are similar, I’d go for it.
I have to ask exactly if they pay overtime since it is an industry job. It seems like they deal with tight deadline every quarter for provisions so I don’t know how I feel about all of that
I would stay at Deloitte and specialize in a subject matter in partnerships. Get out of the high volume work if you can. That’s not enough of a jump at your level for what you are sacrificing.
I would take it
Why? Elaborate please! Would love to hear your thoughts
Yes as long as it’s not KPMG
Lol ah man all big 4s have their cons, cannot be worst than DT
This depends on your promotion prospects where you are vs starting over with no relationships. Is your existing firm growing stagnant or shrinking. How do you rank vs peers. Does the new firm have a history of layoffs after every deadline? How strong are your relationships with current firm leaders?
My relationships here are not strong and it’s my fault. I feel behind on a few things like admin mainly keeping with my timesheets, volunteer outreach and operationally I was on sick leave last busy season so my utilization is not the best. I don’t feel motivated to keep going since I feel like I’m so far behind… I am average. That’s a good question I will ask but I doubt they have huge turn overs as the tax department is around 20 people but I will double check with the recruiter. This is giving me a new chance I guess and I just have to be very diligent
What’s your current commute and days in office? Can’t really compare it fully if you don’t provide that.
17 mns from office and can come as early as I want and leave as early as I want as long as I communicate with my teams and pick up when I get home. The promotion is contingent upon the CPA and I don’t see tha happening until post 9/15. Promotions are decided around this time of the year I think for fiscal year ( mid year).
You’re going to hop tax brackets with more stress
And commute
