Update: you all passed the test ;) I got full refunds for miles and AirBnB. Thanks for the advice dads
Nope. dry and cool = high risk
Sun given the weather and work from home situation. What my others dads doing: being selfish & cheap just doing spring break OR postponing with financial penalty and trying to keep family sane at home??
I’ve cancelled my plans for the end of this month. I’m not freaking out about COVID-19, just warily keeping an eye on it, but it’s everyone else losing their mind that has me concerned. We decided it was better to just hunker down at home and try to have some fun as a family.
Wife and I have a trip planned to NYC for her spring break mid-April. We have tickets to a show on Broadway which is scheduled for a few days after their current hiatus is supposed to end. Also got our flights mostly with miles. At the moment I’m waiting to see whether this is going to level off and if the theaters will open back up in time.
If not, the backup plan is to see what United offers me as far as changing our flights and we’re going someplace warm to drink and sleep for four days, preferably on a beach.
Update: Naturally, everything’s cancelled. Staycation with the kids. Could be worse.
All theme parks have shut down here - Disney, Legoland, Zoos, SeaWorld, etc for March.
Airlines has full refund policy mostly.
Beside, it’s been raining a lot in Southern California. Rained this whole week and going to continue for the next couple of weeks.
PSA: AirBnB is offering free cancellation for most places in the US. Check out you trip page.
For the miles, just bite the bullet and pay the restocking fees
As time goes on this wont even be a question. We’re all likely to be homebound for several weeks by the end of the month. Buy board games and make the best of this unprecedented event.
Cancelled my spring break trip -- we were supposed to leave tomorrow. Everyone should cancel work/personal trips at this point.
