Are any agencies hiring 100% remote positions now? I was laid off and wondering if agencies in other cities have expanded their horizons.
Ask A Recruiter
*POSTING THIS ON BEHALF OF A DEAR FRIEND* A former coworker was laid off today, along with a few other people. She’s a Public Relations Executive, with lots of music and entertainment experience. I know these are hard times, but if you know about an agency or brand in need of staff members or freelancers, please don’t hesitate to reach out 🙏🏻 Thanks!
I want to work on my interview jitters and practice presenting my book/answering standard q’s; might someone be willing to practice with me? I’m a (jobless) jr-level CW trying to polish up during this weird time.
I have my first interview tomorrow for a new job - I’m currently still at the agency I got my first job at (it’s been 2 years & I’ve had 1 promotion, for reference). My question is - can they ask me how much I’m currently making? If so, can I lie? Can they ask for proof? I’m grossly underpaid right now (way below average and even below minimum for my role) so I’ll be asking for a hefty increase, but don’t want them to know just HOW hefty, because I feel like it’ll put me at a disadvantage.
In relation to recruiting, what would you say “near future” translates to? A couple weeks? Months?
Updating my resume is literally the last thing I wanna do. But I need to. Anyone have any tips? And I’m also poor but willing to pay someone for some help 😭
Opinions about showing ecomm/shopper in portfolios, show as part of campaign? don’t show? what’s best way to display it? As recruiters, do you look at this? Hurt or help book? TIA.
When asked why you are looking for a new opportunity, is it ever okay to be honest and disclose that your company is doing layoffs?
As many other agencies, mine is going through a painful “restructuring” process. Wondering if there are some creative agencies in NYC hiring right now. I wanna be ahead of the game in case they keep letting people go 🙏🏻
Are a few typos in a copywriter’s book a dealbreaker? I think I can get past one, but more than that is such a turnoff. Thoughts?
I work in media and event sales and am wondering if people are hiring for that right now? Been laid off for two weeks with a lot of resumes going out but it’s been very very quiet.
Advice for a personal website for an account professional? Thinking it’d be helpful to showcase my career at this time? But how to promote it? I prefer to promote my team instead of my myself.
Any advice or thoughts about senior level folks looking for work in this terrible market? My agency closed and I would literally take anything right now, but feel like I am having a tough time getting anyone to even look at me for more junior roles (my last 2 roles were ECD level). I assume they think I will just leave when the economy gets better. I like to think they are getting a steal. 😉 Do I change titles on my resume to seem less senior? Pray for freelance? ... ?
Feel like everytime I have a potential job the moment I interview face to face it all falls apart. Are there certain key mistakes you guys notice that detract from someone even if they have good work?
Would you recommend approaching people/agencies now, poking, sending my CV around or waiting for the covid nightmare to be sort of over when the industry will pick up and actively hire again?
How easy is it for brand strategists to jump to client side? Been trying but feel like the “Marketing Manager / Director” roles require deep operational experience, ergo, not a 100% fit.
Lost my job and just hit midlevel as a brand and creative strategist. Can’t find much for my experience level at all and am getting nervous. In Chicago but willing to relocate. Anyone have any leads?
