With most managerial roles slowly fading, I'm anticipating losing my job in the near future. There have been no conversations about it so far, and that's relieving, but what do you think is the reality for roles like 'head of design' and 'head of art' in the next few years?

There's been chatter about agencies flattening, so the concept of a manager being atop and slightly removed from the action may be a thing of the past. I've heard people say the future will mean the "head of" something will be more of a player-coach, managing while also actively involved in design. Perhaps you could start making that pivot already.

I am seeing those titles morph into more of a cross-department function. Strategy between departments and execution. Whether that will continue to be the case or something else is hard to say. Many roles are changing.

I worry about creative leadership roles too. I think “head of” roles will still exist but probably with leaner teams and more pressure to be hands-on and fluent with tech, not just directing from above.

I’ve been at my current job a month shy of a full year, yet I have already seen that there are not a whole lot of promotions or raises to stretch for, but part of that comes from being hired in a little green for the role. I’m currently negotiating salaries on the west coast and am nearly certain we will reach an agreement soon. How do I give my two weeks without burning bridges?

I have a therapist that I see twice a month and it has helped me to some extent. I feel like I’m in a general plateau. Hi folks,

If a person resigns on April month when yearly reviews are going to happen and bonus are being sent out.
So, can he get the performance bonus because he served the last whole year with dedication?

It would be helpful if managers can answer this because they are the people who approves or decline this request.

Additional Posts in Ask A Recruiter - Advertising

found a role i’m really interested in and came across a post about it from hiring manager with a “reach out if you’re interested”. I’ve got a few connections to the company - is it better to try to go through someone I’m connected with in a different department and try to get referred, or just jump on the hiring manager’s post and reach out to them cold?

Ok, after an HR screening (and salary requirements) I had 3 interviews. Then HR calls for references and to be “reminded” of salary requirements. All 3 references now contacted. Will I get an offer?

A recruiter from an agency I admire reached out to see if I’m interested in an ACD role. BUT it is for one of their Pharma clients. How can I tell them I’m not interested in that category? I would like to work with them, but on their traditional/consumer brands. I want them to consider me for other opportunities :-/

I spoke with a recruiter recently about a position in her company and before we even began talking about the job, she asked if I needed an sponsorship, I told her no, I dont need one. But she continued to press on the subject until I had to tell her I was a US citizen. I dont know why, but the whole conversation made me extremely uncomfortable. So my question is, can recruiters ask you about your visa/immigration status even when I told her I didnt need a sponsorship??

I’m reviewing my resume getting ready to start my job search and have a question for recruiters, hiring managers. I’m looking for a role brand-side not agency side. Specialist roles aside, such as digital, when you see someone describing themselves as a “generalist marketer” is this a resume you’d pass on? My past roles have been such that I do a lot of marketing projects, tasks etc. but I’m not a specialist. I’m worried if I use this terminology I won’t even be considered for a role. Thank you

I’ve noticed that HR, when explaining why a candidate didn’t get the job, tend to lean on “You’re great, but we had candidates with more experience in [skill relevant to the job].” I do believe this is true in some cases, but it can’t possibly be for all of them.
