An intern kicked off her first day of her 2-month internship saying she was stressed out because she needed a job. I’ve since been slightly unimpressed by her performance (it’s not creative - other story) but believe she can be formed. How do i tell her that you don’t tell a future potential employer that “you’re stressed out because you need a job”? They don’t understand it’s like dating (“im stressed out because I need to get married”) and want to set her up for success for the future.
My secret for leaving art is only because I haven’t found the right company culture regarding creative work environments. Deep down, I hate puss!3s- my drive for bold, controversial statements are as strong as a good coffee in the morning. I feel like quitting almost all the time, it’s not about money but about the work. Does any of this make sense?
If you were asked to volunteer for a 10% salary reduction for 5 months to help avoid more layoffs, would you?
What would you do: in discussion with a small agency to potentially work full time. They wanted to do a 60 day engagement first to see if its a good fit. Kick the tires from both parties makes sense. They asked for my rates and gave them an hourly freelance rate to where they asked if I’d be willing to do a rate that was based off my “future” un-guaranteed employment salary, less than $100/hr, which was less than half my freelance rate. Does this sound fishy? Am I wrong to be skeptical?
Does anyone love their team so much as if they were their own children? I keep talking about 2 people to my life partner as if I was a proud parent. 😬
I’m applying for a job and the online application requires my portfolio as a PDF attachment instead of a link to my site. Has anybody encountered this before? I despise the idea of giving away my work. Even though it’s in the public domain, I still think of my case studies as proprietary. Thoughts?
I’m trying to put together an archive of great briefs. Anyone know of a good resource where I can find this?
Anyone have advice on negotiating for job security? Improbably interviewing for a senior position but want to negotiate some assurances, given the current economic climate. Please and thank you.
Help. I’ll be assisting the CEO who will announce to two people I manage that their salary/hours will be cut by 40%. How should I behave?
We can do Cannes but for free. Have you seen music companies paying for submit their work to the Grammyls? We only need a platform and maybe a flat rate for all the agencies who want to participate
My husband is a creative and has a new ECD who has high standards and pushes everyone. He hasn’t been this inspired and happy in years. It’s crazy the impact we have on people. Keep pushing!
PM asked if I should review work before we send to client. Not the scariest thing she's asked me about. How do you cope with team members that clearly got their role by being a friend of the owner?
Anyone could you share with me a figure that show in a glance why my client should link KPI and media earned, to pay us? (and ultimately how much pourcentage he should pay us)
Cannes is cancelled. It should be every year. It’s a waste of money, mostly awarding work that’s run once. Anyone who’s been at a big agency has taken on a “Cannes brief.” (Note: yes, I have awards)
Looking for film/edit reference. Anyone know of a commercial or video where a person is walking and the environment changes rapidly around them but they remain constant? Or anything close to this?
Hi I’d love your thoughts on dealing with a creative recruiter. Recruiter reached out to us, interviewed with us on the phone, we interviewed with the ECD on the phone. He said we were the perfect team that he wanted to work with on this freelance project. And look forward to working with us. And it would kick off this week. And then radio silence. We followed up with emails to both the ECD and the creative recruiter and more radio silence. Do you just walk away?
