Hi all! I just completed my master's in nursing with an emphasis in public health. I have clinical experience in ICU, PCU, telemetry, med/surg, OB, mother/baby and most recently utilization review and provider appeals. I have a strong skills in auditing and QM/QI with PM experience in implementing order protocols and treatment bundles. I am looking to transition into public health nursing and am open to any variety of specialties with that subset. Please let me know of any opportunities!

I’m on a project where it’s been slow for 2-3 weeks. My manager told me to look for a project to be on so that my utilization won’t be impacted. I have 100% utilization FYTD. I don’t care about metrics anymore, but it seems that if I don’t look for one, I’m going to get in trouble. Considering laying low, or just rolling off the project in general. What would you do?

Help- The project I am on is about to kick off a huge multimillion dollar implementation but I know I am underpaid. Also I feel like I am not being utilized to my full potential, and have witnessed some *not* best practices. I want out, but I also think this implementation is an opportunity for learning and in 9ish months could offer better exit opps. Should I stick it out or is 2yo consultancy and a masters degree worth looking for a new job now?

Hi Big4 Fish, does anyone know what will happen if you can’t reach 1,800 CSH goal? I estimated my total CSH may be 1,700 by the year end and my utilization is 78%. I’m a TC, will I be in trouble?

Shit always hits the fan when my manager is out of office and I'm getting very tired of cleaning up the mess, at least 50% of which comes from my manager not level-setting with his partners or forgetting to do things he's previously committed to doing because I don't have the authority or title needed to escalate.

Level-setting with a senior manager in discussions with group executives about contracts is exactly how I wanted to spend my day 🙄 and people wonder why I hit 150-200% utilization

Anyone work as a utilization Mgmt/ review nurse for insurance companies? Is $75k annually in Orlando,FL good for someone with 3.5 years of hospital experience? I have a potential job lined up and want to make sure I’m not lowballed. Thanks I’m advance!

How do you defend yourself if you didn't meet a utilization target?

Question and it might not be my brightest, but why are so many people concerned about utilization? I’ve always been on bigger clients and staffed through-out the year. Do people not have staffing through out the year?

I’m 4 years in with the federal government and expect to get my GS-12 in about month. I’m considering leaving for the private sector and I’m trying to figure out where my skill set would be best utilized. I’m a COR w/ Communications experience. However I’m conflicted bc i currently have good WLB, job security, and a decent income but i feel like i could make more going private but I’m not sure if giving up my benefits is worth it. I am currently a care coordinator with one of the big insurance companies. I want off the phone, I have been applying for Rn jobs in utilization but have not gotten the last 5-6-7 I applied for, I lost count… I am thinking more analytics and business side of things now. I finished my MSN LM to maybe stand out from the large amount of applicants they get. BUT I have no experience in analytics.. so I have a chance? How do I get training in tableau, sql, interqual, project management, alteryx..

Do other firms base employee ratings highly off of Utilization? Seems like such an arbitrary statistic. I’ve completed all the work given to me as a first year and have asked for more, but there just isn’t enough in my area right now to let anyone seemingly hit utilization goals. To be “dinged” in ranking based off of doing my assigned tasks well and efficiently seems dumb.

At what utilization % does the firm typically break even on a SC ?

Deloitte USI Advisory Managers are expected to have 90% utilization. Is this the expectation in other big4 as well?

Has anyone here utilized the DoD Skillbridge program? How did it go for you? I have my 2nd interview with a program that hooks me up with one of their partners starting has a SDR for Tech Startups.

Started at Deloitte 3 months ago , and I have 44% utilization. I have heard mixed reviews on if I will be fired or not.
First project was a 3 month project which ended a month ago, been on bench for 1 month now.

How does bench time affect new experience hires ?

Been in role for a year currently a 7, plan to get my 8 this summers. Received great YE review and +90% utilized. Any recommendations around comp expectations (in the US)?

I'm current an SDE with 19yoe. While I do like it, it's not where my best strengths lie. Are there adjacent roles where technical knowledge is useful, but my strengths in understanding the big picture and communication could be better utilized?

Qualitative research question, as I am investigating the motivation that partners and managers may have to influence reporting of hours and other statistics that affect compensation and other KPI reviews that affect performance reviews.

What is the incentive from a management point of view to encourage associates to under-report charge hours and/or admin/non-charge hours? Is compensation at management level based on utilization and/or realization? Other KPIs? General answers are fine (or PM).
