I joined Pwc in nov, but since then has been on only 1 project which was just for 3 weeks. Is this a serious issue as the utilization will be low? And ideally putting bench code for all these days or should it be a mix of training and bench code. Please advice. TIA!

1st year auditor here in west coast office. I’m book 60 hours this week however I only worked 48 hours. We’re still waiting on supporting docs and my senior tells me to log of early. Will this impact my performance and utilization?

I have a utilization question: if you’re scheduled for 40 billable hours in a week but you finish the work in 30 hours you’re 75% utilized which may or may not be fine depending on ur firm.

But if you finish the work in 50 hours, youre 125% utilized but you’re going over budget (providing you don’t eat hours). How do you reconcile the 2?

How do I find out what my utilization is? How is it even calculated?

Disclaimer - not a typical post for this bowl. Wanted to understand more about the mental health services at Google (I already read the high level info on the onboarding portal). I’m starting soon and wanted to ask what Googlers thought of the available resources. My mental health has taken a hit since fall ‘20 - I tried wellness programs through my current employer (counseling and mindfulness) but felt that the providers were more into utilization of the benefit than trying to solve my issues.

What is the target utilization for a Senior 2? Or number of chargeable hours goal? Is this ever hard to meet?

I just found out that people bill more than 8 hours in a day to help with utilization (ie. submitting 8.5 or 9 hours as a standard day). Is this common practice?

Recently hired Patent Agent and wanted to know if I am being fairly compensated and utilized. Training lasted a couple days where I immediately got assigned to draft +2 patent applications and +1 office action responses each week. Have no experience with 3D modeling programs so drawing diagrams and figures take a long time too. TOC < 80k and no annual bonus.

People who work in consulting.. how do you manage to travel to your home country? I’m in a project right now that ends in a month. It’s so hard to get a drop box appointment or a visa interview appointment for stamping and of course cannot travel in the middle of a project. It’s challenging to plan around this. Would love some insights into how y’all plan around visa appointments, projects and utilization.

Junior here. I’m currently 117% utilized (which I know may not be a lot to many ppl…) but I feel i am nearing capacity and cannot take on more work. I see all the time people say “dont make the mistake of not saying no to work early on.”

When does that apply? How do you say no? I don’t want to make a mistake that has me billing 2300+ a year, but I also don’t want to look bad. My sweet spot is 2050 hours, if i can help it.

I started at IBM 3 months ago and have had huge amounts of idle time. I am wondering if this is normal for IBM and whether others have turned around and left as a result? I have an external offer and want to take it but I’m worried about perception of leaving so quickly. I’m getting worried as my utilization sits around 50% and I would rather leave than getting fired. New to ACN, M level, was staffed briefly on a short term project (4 weeks) then got pulled from that project to work on a different one but that only lasted 6 weeks. Utilization is low less than 35% so I’m concerned and don’t have a solid plan for turning things around. As an experienced hire it seems like a battle to establish yourself and find consistent work and develop your network. Did some BD work but was never provided to it w a chargeable code. Any suggestions on turning things around?

Stub year, transactional. Work has pretty much dried up for me after being between 95-115% utilized the past 3 weeks. Should i be concerned that i’m not getting more assignments (meaning that my work has been trash)??
