Utilization Rate

I’m looking for feedback on PEOs, specifically for our EMEA expansion. We are taking to Globalization Partners, Velocity Global, Safeguard Global and potentially Insperity. Has anyone utilized one of these PEOs? What did you like in terms of efficiency and process and what are some watch outs? Any info would be very helpful as we vet them.

130k base, 45k RSU (4year vesting), 20% bonus (based on utilization)

How does your firm calculate utilization? My firm’s billable requirement is 1850, but our utilization percentage is calculated based on 40 hours billed per week (2080/year). Pro bono work counts towards billable requirement , but isn’t included in our utilization numbers. This seems out of sorts… Yearly requirement is fine, but it just feels like the numbers don’t match up. I don’t feel like my utilization expectations/work are being accurately accounted for.

What’s been the most efficient way to reach out to students at HBS or GSB? I believe they don’t have formal student ambassadors like most schools but did notice they had contacts for clubs. Just seeing what others may have utilized.

Was told during hiring that firm provides a 10% fixed bonus, regardless of performance review or evaluation. Then I’m hearing from an employee during my first week that you need above x% utilization to get the bonus at the full amount. Should I confront recruiter? I asked her this exact question and she told me no not to worry about that.

Thoughts on under reporting hours? I’m an analyst and report 45 hrs/week regardless of hours worked to ‘help the team with budgeting’. It impacts my utilization but not sure if that’s just the consulting way?

Joined an industry job not long ago at Director level and I don’t have much to do. I did a couple short projects and probably am around 50% utilized on average. (I always made it clear when I had capacity so it’s not like I’m “hiding”) I spent the down time doing my own L&D. Is there anything I should be doing to get more work or is this normal?? I’m fine occupying myself, just worried about being deemed extraneous after I was hired

Was passed up for mid-year promotion. I have bi-weekly meetings with my coach (a partner), and was told I was on track for it months ago based on certain metrics. Then last week he said I’m “a rockstar” and that I will be promoted in May 2022 as if our previous conversations never happened. I already sacrificed a promo by moving firms and I feel like I’ve been held back again. Any advice? Feeling demotivated and exhausted considering I’ve been 100% utilized since May.

I just realized I have enough PTO banked to take the rest of the year off with PTO+Disconnects and still bank 15 days to roll over for next year. Starting next week. I am a developer who utilizes a low code platform to develop applications (3 years experience on a few agile teams within my company) but I want to transition into a traditional development position (hopefully in aerospace). I have an understanding of coding concepts from college but never really utilized them in the real world. Are there any others who have taken this path? If so, do you have any advice? For the others, do you believe I would qualify for more of a Jr or mid level dev position?

Does managers( L7 ) get atleast 50% of the mentioned variable pay( 32%) in offer letter if they are tagged and completly utilized in project or it also depends on other factors? Any advise from experienced M will help :)

My school offers 3 tracts for the masters of accountancy (audit, tax, data analytics/information security). Which would you recommend I focus on? I am currently leaning towards the data analytics due to the fact technology has become such a important part of accounting and that tract will give me better analytical skills. However, I do know firms teach you to learn their software so I am also wondering if my time would be better utilized picking tax or audit.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong… for PDM Analysts/Senior Analysts with 93% utilization target, working 40 hours a week, factoring in holidays/collective disconnect days… there’s 1 day of PTO available across the entire performance year in order to meet utilization by Jan 8? Is that even legal? Lol

Can anyone share how they prepped for a management consulting interview? The behaviorals are dependent on the co. but just slight variations should work. Is that the same for the case studies (big variation w certain firms)? Any material utilized or in-depth guidance is very appreciated!

Is it possible to become a project manager in industry after a year in the analyst role (HC) at Deloitte?

All of my projects have utilized an agile approach, and I have taken classes/trainings recognized by PMI.

My long term goal is to become a program manager, so I want to start at the project level.

What is difference between "Vehicle Maintenance Allowance " and "Car Allowance"? I have both components in my CTC breakup under basket of allowances. Can any of these be somehow utilized for reducing tax liability?

How do I communicate to my PML that my utilization should not affect me as much as it is because I am not receiving the work and is majorly out of my control. A1 started in January. I have inline or higher in all my values except for utilization which puts me at well below. Because of this I was placed at below for my 1st year/ 10 months. A manager suggested I had a talk with my PML about it but I don’t know how to do it. Thanks!

Utilization QTNA. If I’m on a call for an hour and multitasking doing other work during that hour — do I bill one hour or two?

I work in media industry for more than 10 years and wanting to shift to IT. I was a Computer Science graduate but never utilized my skills in that field. Are tech schools worth it to get back on track? I am looking at QA Engineering training, it costs some money, but is there any other way to get into IT without spending much?
