Utilization Rate

I thought we were supposed to charge the hours that we actually spend on work? I had a Sr Mgr tell me to review my project hours and only charge what “added value” to the project. This is going to hurt my utilization, but I also don’t want to get in trouble for lying on my timesheet. What do I do?

Torn between two offers and need help. Company 1 is a top 10 hedge fund. 225k base + 85k bonus. I would be in enterprise engineering (software, storage utilization, database).

Company 2 is a top 50 hedge fund. 185k + 65k or more bonus in equity strategy (execution, portfolio finance, market research hub). I’m torn because I’m not sure which path sets me up better for the long term. Posting for a friend, male, 30.

My Counsellor sent me an email asking for reason for less utilization for a particular week.
The funny thing is that for that particular week I had asked him in the beginning itself that I have completed with a project last Friday, what next? His reply was that they are trying to find a project and that I need not worry about utilization and projects as that is the project managers and counsellors headache.

EY Law began the GC process as a S1 for a EB2 Manager role
I currently hold a Master’s Degree which shaves off about a year of overall work experience from 4 to 5.

In my previous role (systems implementation), utilized several different tools/knowledge that are applicable to IT, however it was not an IT Auditor role. For example - Master’s degree in Business, Management, Accounting, Finance or a related field and 4 years of work experience applying relevant IT audit skills. Any advice?

How do Big4 or consulting companies make hiring decisions? Whose budget is utilized for initial hire? Is a signed SOW required or confirmed engagement before an offer is extended?

Is having a high utilization as a manager/senior manager looked at as a negative for KPIs? New SM here and my projected utilization for the year is about 15% higher than the minimum requirement for my level

Interviewer- Tell me about a difficult situation and how you utilized your problem solving skills and sound analytical skills to solve it
Me- I was like this is a Sox associate role, I will be taking screen shot and drawing lines and most of the time mirroring prior year- there’s nothing difficult about this job and need for that question lol

Transitioning from Critical care and worked several specialty in my 30 yrs of nursing. Ive worked in Utilization Mgmt and Case Mgmt in the past and considering doing case Mgmt again. What the salary range for Case management in Atlanta,Georgia for insurance company?

Man, I am so tired of the whole concept of timesheets, billable hours, utilization, etc. that is public accounting.

How do I get into IT/tech/consulting healthcare space? I have years of inpatient nursing, and years of discharge planning/utilization management. Is using PTO frowned upon? I am starting as a new associate soon at a b4 and I am really nervous for the vacations I have already booked this summer. 4 days in May, 1 day in June, a week and 2 days in July, 3 days in August. I am not sure if I should cancel any of these to help my utilization as a new hire.

I’m struggling. I left an agency I liked last year due to growth limitations and since then I’ve worked at 2 different agencies and can’t seem to find my footing. Is 80% utilization compulsory or is there some flexibility around it. Also what's the timeline around it? I heard it's April 22 but till that time only data till April 15 is updated. What if after 30 Apr update it again falls back below 80%

I work in an inclusion setting in 4th grade Language Arts. We do novel studies throughout the school year. However, I have one student who has Autism and although he can read grade level material, he does not comprehend. The gen ed teacher does not do small group work in which different novels/chapter books could be utilized. I have a 10K charge off , $2k charge off (in dispute status), and 2 late payments from 2019. My utilization also 76%, but my DTI is very low. I have a 636 middle score and I have not been able to be approved automated or manually. I have received refer with caution, but the former lender I used can’t see what’s causing it in the system.

What happens when you have a low utilization rate because projects took so long to start?

Does anyone have experience transitioning from bedside nursing to Utilization Review? Most of the positions I’ve seen require previous UR work to even be considered. I tried talking to my current employer about cross trading and was told they won’t train anyone to those positions. TIA.

Hey fishes, I joined EY GDS on dec. I was not allocated to any project for initial 2 months. I am billable from february. My utilization is 43%. Will it affect my performance cycle for current year?

Can you get fired for having low utilization as a senior? My billable hours this busy season have been much lower than my peers.

Question: I have a new M1 I’m working with on a client and they are constantly nagging me about my chargeable hours (ie concerned I’m fully utilized). In the last year I’ve rarely been non chargeable and I’m confused why it’s their concern if I am slightly under 40 for one week. Is this normal?

Joined Deloitte recently. PDM model.
Couple days ago found out that PTO not counted towards utilization.
I need to go to my home country and get married this December.
I don’t think I can bill more than 40 hours.
So people do not take vacation/PTO in PDM model? Is changing job the only option or there is some other way. Please advice.
