I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

Take the call. Fake it til you make it. Sign up for modeling classes now and immerse yourself. You got this.
WSO has a modelling course. It's about $450 total. Even if you don't get the gig you'll sound like a genius in your job if you finish the course
A technology consulting manager applying for an assistant strategy director role... may the odds be ever in my favor 😂
Wish me luck!

You do!
Just say you do, and use your notice period to ramp up those skills
Bring me on and I’ll do the excel for you
Done.
Go for it. I’m in a similar situation. Going to fake it and upskill hard for a couple weeks if I get it. There likely will be a modeling test though so there are barriers to entry.

Go for it. You can learn modeling. Just don’t flat-out lie about specific skills they may test, e.g. don’t say you know SQL if you don’t. And be prepared to talk about specific examples of your work that are relevant so it seems like less of a reach.
What’s the job? I’ll apply if you don’t want it!
Look at Trump, look at Kanye..they looked at job description and said “no qualifications, great..I’ll make sure to apply”. Stop doubting yourself, try it. Nothing to lose
Thanks for all the motivation, 🐠. I’ve made it through two rounds so far which is further than I thought I would get! Still going...

Still go for it.
Ha! Thanks y’all. I appreciate the morale boost!
Okay, follow-up question... I’m also not a strategy consultant... I’m in the strategy and consulting practice but I sit on the functional consulting side...
Think I should still go for it?
I don’t know but I’m going for it!
Can you forward me the recruiters contact info?
Pan or Pam?
OP, while you are practicing those skills, you also need to tell the story about how you use the technical skills in the interview. One thing to help overcome the imposter syndrome is to keep practicing your story over and over again - to your friends, through mock interviews, through the interviews with the company you really don’t want to join but apply for practicing your story. After 5-10 times , the story will come natural. Meanwhile, don’t make up a completely fake story. Some part of your project always has technical perspective, learn that material, talk to your teammate who takes in charge of that work stream and try to understand it. Then try to relate your technical story based on that.
