I find myself comparing my worth vs. other creatives who have big awards under their belt. I have some local ones but it took a lot of initiative. I recently got a job offers with two start-ups and can’t decide which is the better comp plan based on their equity. I’ve only worked at public companies before where RSUs are easier to understand. Any help would be appreciated

Job Offer 1: Series B start-up
105k Base, 10% bonus, 2000 shares at $1.50 strike price, company was valued at $550 million+.

Job Offer 2: Series E Start-Up
85k base, 30% bonus, 1500 shares at $6.50 strike price, company currently valued at $1.6 billion

I'm going for a role for Account Director and have gone through the interviews with the head of accounts, BD as well as the ECD's. I received the following email at the end of the day:

"You are one of two candidates in the final round.

One thing we haven’t spoken about are your salary expectations. Could you have a think and let me know early next week as well as your employment status (residency permit)."

How much more $ can you reasonably expect to get when negotiating an initial offer? Especially if they say that the offer is the top of their salary band but potentially flexible?

Reached out to the CCO at an agency I want to work at. Immediate response, meeting, and “don’t go anywhere else”. She then setup meetings with others: ECD/CDs. All great meetings and circled back around for another meeting with CCO. Talked and aligned on comp. “I’ll send something over in a couple days.” Week goes by so I check in. “Sorry. Busy. Will send something shortly.” That was two weeks ago. Feeling ghosted and can’t figure where I went wrong. Just had to rant.

I put in my 2-weeks notice last week. I am set to receive my hiring bonus a few days before my last day. Because of this, leadership has asked me to waive receiving this bonus. Thoughts?

I work with an ECD that always wants very prescriptive images for scripts boards instead of images that sells a vibe/feeling. Like he wants a garden gnome on a tractor seat eating chicken wings. And of course I will have to spend some time to comp at a decent quality. It is even worse when he finds something exactly like he wants but the image sucks. How do I deal with this?

My agency just hired a new partner for me. He got a salary approved for 15k more than me a year and he has less experience than me in advertising. Do I ask for a raise?

Any tips on interviewing with a partner? This will be my first time interviewing as a team. We get along great and are friends outside work so I’m not super concerned, just wondering what the usual protocol is. I imagine it should flow like a normal conversation. But when you interview teams do you ask each person specific questions or ask a question and let each person answer?
Also side question: teams usually come in at the same title & salary right?

Refused to do an assignment (free work) as part of hiring process they still reached out with an offer/ salary number. I offered them sample of past work as an alternative and it worked. Never get exploited by entertaining these free assignments as its simply unpaid work and stand your ground. PS: Oh and i still refused the offer.

I am not in FCB anymore. I am at an independent small shop. New boss for the past 5 months. A week ago they express their utter dissatisfaction for all of my work- all aspects (2 weeks after I received a nice bonus for performance). They are making my day to day unbearable. Helicoptering me, condescending emails, and making me understand that they want me out. HR won’t talk to me. They will always favored the senior person. I’m trying to stay put but my nerves are a wreck. Why is this MO allow?

Guys, can someone explain what is the difference between CD and Group CD? And what would be salary ranges for both roles in NYC?

Has anyone actually looked at the math, calculated, and compared a freelance day rate of about 1-1.2k, booked for whatever % of the year, versus a full time staff salary of say, 200k… at what numbers do they even out when you factor in taxes, health insurance, paid vaca time etc? Hard to say which is more lucrative with the variables, but, any insights?

i have a direct report that is frequently referring to themselves by a higher title than what they really are and aren't happy that i can't formally upgrade them to that title until the next bonus / promotion round EOY. how do i manage this? i'm working with them on a dev plan to get them to that role in due time, but they're not ready yet.

How much is the starting salary for associates in ad agencies like GroupM and agencies under WPP?

I just found out I am being paid less than both of the people I manage ($6k and $10k less). The issue though is they both have a different job than me - they are project managers and I am in more of an overarching strategy role. But I do manage and represent my entire dept. I haven’t been at my company for a full year yet so negotiating my salary is hard (especially because we are very large and matrixed).

How would you approach this? Is this normal? I’m just feeling very frustrated.

I have another offer that gives me a bump in title and salary, but I’ve genuinely been enjoying my time at my current spot and wasn’t necessarily looking to jump, although it has been a drag recently. With that said, the new offer is very tempting and I feel good about the agency, maybe just a lesser or equal creative opp. I’m feeling very indecisive and my first thought was to bring it to my boss, is that stupid?
