In before all the "awards don't matter" people.
Awards only matter if they matter to you.
Personally, they've gotten me raises, promotions, new jobs in my home country, and new jobs in other countries. And when getting those jobs, it's allowed me to negotiate more time off, larger relocation fees, and other small perks.
You can have a great, fun, fulfilling career without awards. Awards just make it a bit better, for some people.

I had a year where I won golds and Grand Prix at every major award show from one big piece of work. A lot of luck was of course involved. I got promoted and a pretty big raise as a result. And lots of calls from recruiters. Those awards still help in interviews.
