I've heard of managers in sales making less than the star sales people on their team. I've also heard of some creative directors making less than teams working under them, because the teams have done a lot of famous, award-winning work. Actors can make more than the director. So it does happen. You need to understand why they get paid more than you and if the reasons are not valid, you likely have a good case to request a raise.
Can you do what they do better than they can? It’s good to have people on your team that you pay better than you because they do what you can’t. If you can do what they do better than they can, then it’s different. Then you simply might be underpaid and need to renegotiate - and to that you will unfortunately need to get job offers from elsewhere.
How did you find out?
