What’s a good starting salary for working as a Senior Associate in NYC for OMD? Other thoughts on the company? OMD
Besides salary, how to pick between job offers?
Um hi, the recruiters I’ve been talking to think my day rate is too high for a mid level AD. But also they have been recruiters at staffing agencies so I kinda don’t trust their judgement. I know this is repeatedly asked on here but what is normal for freelance hourly rate, mid level AD in NY?
For those who are getting hired during this employees market -- are you worried that our "higher" salaries won't be sustainable once more people get back into the industry? Had a former boss say that everyone who's jumping ship for a higher salary right now will just lose their gig in a few months.
What’s an entry level salary at your company? I’ll go first - entry level associate across search, social, programmatic, digital investment and others at groupm/wpp is $38k
3 times I have gone through the interview process with big agencies and have gotten positive feedback all the way through to final interviews. Discussed salary and start date etc. only to be told right before offer time that internal team shifts or client scopes shifts mean the position is now on hold. But the team “loved” meeting me and as soon as a suitable position opens they’d love to interview again. Is this something you guys have experienced or am I doing something wrong on my end?
What's a mid level salary like at hot shops like GUT, Droga, or WK? Do they pay the same as a mid level writer role in your Ogilvy, Dentsu, Saatchis?

Question re: getting hired remotely, specifically in a different city and state than the agency where you’ll be working. Is your salary based on COL where you live or where the agency is located?
I just signed an offer that’s 150% higher than my entry level salary from 2 years ago! 2 years of agency life was enough for me.
Curious, what is perceived to be an appropriate fulltime salary range for ACD in NYC/LA? Need a reality check 🙏
Planning to move to Melbourne soon. Wondering what is the average salary for a senior copywriter or associated CD role? Would it differ between a big agency like Clemenger and a smaller one like The Monkeys? Am slightly worried the 40% taxes will take a big munch of my salary, but don’t want to ask for something ridiculously high either! Thanks :)
What tools are you using for salary research these days? I feel like Glassdoor isn't as reliable as it used to be.
VP, CD looking at a potential SF gig. What would be an appropriate salary to ask for be? I know SF is crazy, but I’m not sure I fully comprehend just HOW crazy. Thank you.
On the heels of the infamous “transactional employee” post: has anyone encountered other recruiters singing the same tune and offering lowball salaries? It is in recruiters’ interests to keep the agency, (not the employee) happy because the agency is far more likely to be a repeat customer. Recently a few recruiters have presented offers that are lower than my current salary because “agency X is a place to grow...” What gives?
People who have switched jobs in the past few months… what was your old salary and what’s your new salary?
Feeling more and more pessimistic about working in advertising, specifically about making money for morally bankrupt companies, but I do love that salary…where do people go after advertising? I want to make a change but I have no idea where to start. Appreciate the help <3
What is the average salary of someone with 7+ years of Project Management and Client Management in advertising?
I am coming up on my third year in the industry. The average salary for designers in my city is $45,000, but I also have experience in Art Direction. What is a reasonable salary for taking on a role within one of the 4 holding companies?
My biggest accomplishment this year: Getting every member of my team a promotion, a merit and/or a bonus. At least something good has come out of the last 8 months.
Jr. planner salary for med size market?
I referred a friend for the same position as me. Prior to them applying, I shared my salary with them (big mistake) and now they’ve asked for the same salary after the initial offer. The problem is that I have more experience them in certain areas and I have a broader skill set. I’m starting to regret referring them, as I can tell this is going to be one of the many instances where they try to compete with me.
How would you start a conversation with your bosses / HR about wanting to stay WFH forever (already a real possibility based on new policy) and potentially moving back home (out of the US)? I dream of being back home with family, but I love my job (and my salary 😅) and would love to continue with them even if I make the decision to move back.
What’s a ballpark salary for a media strategy director in NYC at a big holding company like Omnicom?
Negotiating benefits for a new full time job. What are some things I should ask for? I hear there are work from home stipends these days, and I'd like a budget for continuing education that can help further my career, conferences and subscriptions. Are there signing bonuses any more? Bonuses at the end of year? Some full time jobs in the past I've gotten 100$ bonus others it was dependent on what we made and I got 5kish before taxes. Never actually negotiated before, please help!
When relocating abroad for work do companies tend to offer (a few months of) corporate hosing in your compensation package? I know it always doesn't hurt to ask, but curious as to if that's a standard thing or not.
How bad is pharma for creatives? Would you take an offer for 25% more than your current salary? I'm more than ready to leave my current agency and really want more $ but is it worth it??
Any tips on negotiating salary? How much should you ask for? How do you know if the company is low-balling you?
Feeling totally burned out. I’m client side with great total comp (bonus + equity) that will set me up for future financial success. But my mental and physical health is suffering — not to mention my personal life. Is going back to a life of freelance (even if only temporarily) a stupid move?
Is it worth it to accept a new job if the salary is only $5K more than you’re currently making? And if a company extends an offer, wouldn’t it be in their best interest to give that person what they want (especially when it’s totally reasonable) rather than begin the hiring process all over again..?
What’s the average base salary for Group Creative Strategy Director in California (greater Los Angeles area) client side?
Looking at full-time and application asks for expected salary and then expected total compensation as a number. How should I figure out the second? Health insurance, bonuses, life insurance, equity, PTO? I studied art, not math.
work at a big name agency that would look great on my resume or work at a growing mid-size shop where you maybe get along with the people better? I have two offers both equal in salary and I’m torn. any advice on deciding?
I have an offer for £55K as a senior consultant at a boutique firm in London (supply chain consulting). 10-15% bonus and £5K relocation since I'll be moving from North America. Good or bad offer? I have 5.5 YOE total, 2 in consulting
Interviewing at McKinsey from a big 4 consulting firm - currently an engagement manager interviewing for an engagement manager role on the partner track - comp at big 4 is currently $165k base, what’s a reasonable amount to ask for at mck? I got an Ivy League exec mba in 2020 as well, which hasn’t yet been reflected in my big 4 comp (we mostly didn’t do raises because of covid last year). Trying to understand how much higher mck might be willing to go?
With so many people reportedly leaving consulting, I’m wondering how common is it to leave for less TC? MBB comp $200k+ at 27. Do most people get increases above that or just go to jobs sitting at $150k but that “have better WLB”? *Not looking to include those that switch to industries with intentional disregard about comp (eg public sector, charity, teaching etc).
Anybody have intel about typical Palo Alto (start up/PE funded) VP role compensation packages. Meaning typical ranges for: base salary, bonus, stock options, equity positions, etc...

Negotiating salary right before year end. Thoughts and your experience? Performance is super good and lots of backers at high level to see it go through. Skeptical of HR though

On a flight (yes, but not for work) and a morbidly obese person next to me is all up in my space - there is no way for this person not to touch me. If people cannot fit into standard seat sizes (cont)
Have any of you had trouble getting interviews at startups due to them wanting more startup experience? I've worked on many greenfield projects for clients and more mature projects, so I'm not sure why I wouldn't be a good candidate. The funny thing is when you look at the bios for some of these founders and see just how inexperienced many of them are. One's bio was basically the list of clubs he belonged to in college.
Male fish- I’m attending a committee meeting of a client’s board down in South Beach. Dress code is “resort casual”. Any pointers on this one?
What % of your 401K contribution does your employer match? Trying to get some benchmarking ideas, thanks

I was due for a promotion but then covid hit, and during the peak of layoffs/furloughs, I was given the run-around that we have agency wide promotion freezes, etc. Over the past month, a handful of people have been promoted. I know everyone's situation is different but I can't help feeling snubbed. How do I know whether they are genuinely trying to promote me and can't, versus them stringing me along for as long as possible? I dont want it to come to having to bring another offer to the table..
Boomerangs - Did you get a raise when you boomeranged back to your old big 4 firm? If so, how much? Tips to negotiate.
I knew i was underpaid, but didn’t realize just how much until my client offered a 60% pay bump...
How have you all been setting boundaries from work? I've been working 10-12 hour days now since March and I'm just really struggling. And the rest is not because I do not get my work done. My client right now stretches between NY to AZ and Asia hours. So I start at 8:30/9am and do not get off the phone until 10pm, sometimes 11pm.
Where are the office Halloween zoom pics???

Anybody needs United Business Class Upgrades DM me. Preferably would like to give it away to someone who doesn't travel business very often. Paying it forward :)
How do I deal with a super intense senior associate that is making life difficult? This associate sees no difference between 11 AM and 11 PM, weekend or weekday. They will text me on my personal cell instead of emailing, insist on long zoom calls during which they insist on turning camera on, won’t review anything I send them unless it’s on a zoom call (yes, that is crazy and not the norm at my firm), and is not a good team player (something good? He did it! bad? You did it)! What do I do?
Advanced Auto Parts- Accidentally bought the may 15 call which I had to sell at loss vs the June call which of course is up. Lesson- don't click my mouse too quickly!
