Hi all,
I’m currently working for a small technical consulting start-up firm. I make good money, have great benefits, and they seem very happy with the work I’m doing, so I know I could move up quickly. However, tech consulting is definitely not my dream job. I want to get into data analytics, and I have an offer from a big company to do just that. I’ve only been at my current company for about 8 months, but I don’t ever see myself loving this job. How do I know when it’s time to make a change?

Looking to improve general communication skills (especially around structuring narrative/ key messages), any books/courses that you would recommend?

Is it recommended to get two full years of consulting experience before looking for a move elsewhere...for more comp (say to another Big 4, industry, attempt at MBB or FAANG)? Already have 8 yoe in the DoD space outside of consulting. And about 16 months of consulting exp

Any advice on how to switch from big 4 to tier 1 consulting firms like BCG and MCK?

I feel stuck as a Strategy Manager and want to make a career pivot at 35. But have no idea what i should do? Any suggestions, resources or books that I should read to help with my existential mid thirties crisis? I have experience in technology consulting, corporate strategy, freelance consulting and law. Do I go back to being an Attorney, or do I retrain and become a financial advisor or something else?

I also have PGDM in finance, and my skills include SQL, python, PowerBI, tableau, familiar with Knime, Alteryx and also PySpark. Got an offer within Product Ops (Mt View) for L4, 145k base, 15% bonus, 185k equity (33/33/22/12), 15 sign on. One competing offer (that is lower) and only MBB promotion to Engagement manager in a few months as leverage point.
